Subject: Best source of Space Marine heavy weapons?

Ultramarine Librarian with Freaky Familiar

I have recently purchased a bunch of Space Marines for cheap but they don't have the heavy weapons sprues. I was considering buying cheap devastator squads or buying the plasma/melta gun packs. Or going to my FLGS and see what they have. What is the best way to get Space Marine heavy weapons?

Try eBay or the bitz sites, you can normally get them for relatively cheap.

Some of the chapter upgrade packs come with weapons.
I don't think the Dark Angels pack is any use to you, but look though the pics on GW's site for others.

Have you tried tradin bits at your local FLGS. Great way to get stuff you need for bits you don't.

Swap Shop them. other then that, go to your FLGS and trade your mates for them.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money. |

The devastator box is an excellent source of heavy weapons. IIRC you get 2xLC, 2xPC, 2xHB, One MM and one ML. Plus some sergeant bits. I'd recommend picking one up for anyone building a marine army. Even if you never field them as a dev squad, it gives your tactical squads all the option they need.
Special weapons like Meltaguns and Plasmaguns are a lot harder to find. Chapter upgrade kits and separate bits seem the only way to get them. I think the command squad box has a few, not 100% sure though.

I would go on Ebay and try to obtain the Devestator Bits. I am uncertain if all the heavy weapons are on 1 sprue, but if they are you might be able to look for Hordebitz or someone like that that has them all ready to go for you.
Its what i've done when i'm only looking for 1 particular sprue, and have all the "bodies" i need. Example: orks. Ork players usually have a surplus of bodies, legs, shootas, choppas, sluggas. However, if you don't want to pay up for tankbustas, you can make them on the cheap with just getting the rokkits from another player, or going onto ebay and ordering them.
I used to so this with my CSM when I wanted to make lots of melta / plasma options.

Agreed the devestator box is the best way to get Heavy weapons bits En masse outside of Ebay.
As for special weapon bits buying the pack from GW is actually your best bet. Because meltaguns have been in demand they can cost as much as 6 dollars a bit. I feel that 8.25 is a fair price for 5. Plasma gun bits are a bit more available however the five pack is still the way to go.

I agree with captain collius. The metal Special Weapons Bitz Packs are great. just keep in mind that they are meant for the model's right hand. A friend of mine got this mixed up and messed up his squad.

I got to agree on this. I bought the devastator box just to put other heavy weapons than missile launchers on tac squads. Was a very good buy. The power fist in the box ended up useful also and most other parts for conversions.
If you need special weapons the tac squad and command squad boxes have one of each but buying them for just those weapons might not be a good idea so buying them separately from elsewhere seems like a good idea.
