A new day, a new time zone.

This question gets asked a lot.

When Dust generates enough traffic to be worth a sub forum of it's own.

No, just means people ask for one alot. Dust does not generate that much traffic.

It took quite awhile for Mantic, Malifuax, and Infinity to get thier own forums and they have had much more traffic then Dust generates for some time. For awhile you could post in the misc miniatures section with the thread getting drowned by Infinity Threads. When dust starts having that many posts related to it, then it might be worth it.

Fun fact: The current DCM Brushfire Thread has twice as many posts in it then the entire Malifuax section.

Maybe if it had its own forum there would be more posts. I for one am pretty excited about DUST and would be thrilled if it had a single point to go for information.

It doesn't work that way. When a game starts dominating a genre forum, then the talk of it getting its own starts. I for one am glad that dakka doesn't start forums for every game that comes out only to close them later when they get no more than a couple posts a week from the same few people. If you need a single point for info, PM a couple of people who seem to post about DUST and start up an ongoing DUST thread that contains the info you want.

I want a Man O War forum!

If I make enough posts about it will I get one?

This is how Infinity got its own forum. We asked, and got refused. So we just started getting active. After a while, Infinity threads dominated the front page of the skirmish sub forum.

Contrary to popular belief, it's not as simple as adding another sub forum. Traffic, bandwidth and costs need to be considered, and it's just not worth it when a game doesn't have a following.

I for one would like to see more about those scenery and add on sets.

So far the range is pretty impressive, got a few turds in there, but not all that many.

Is this game worth getting into or is it AT-43 part 2?

I'd like one or two of those starter sets, but not at the expense of some of the other games I've seen, unless its on par.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

For the record i have attempted to get Dust Warfare threads/blogs going here and they have all died on the vine with few if any posts/responses:

For The Motherland [A Dust Warfare SSU modelling & converting blog]: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/452706.page

Dust & Weird War II: Show your models and collections: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/445782.page

I gave up posting about it..

Your best bet is to find the dust threads and respond to them or start some Dust themed blogs of your own. If Dust generates no activity and every thread about it dies it will NEVER get its own forum...

Only if someone responds, which I will, every single time! Then I can make a man o war post, and you can respond! Soon, we will dominate the misc gaming sub forum!

No, 'X is awesome, why doesn't it have it's own subforum' gets asked alot.
draugadan wrote:Maybe if it had its own forum there would be more posts.

This shows a basic misunderstanding of how forums work. If you had 10,000 people viewing the Dakka forum, 1,000 of them who read 'Misc Miniature Games' and then 30 who are specifically interested in 'Dust,' giving 'Dust' it's own sub-forum would reliably have about 30ish people reading it, and who knows how few actually posting in it, as opposed to the 1,000 who would at least be exposed to it and might click on 'Dust' threads on the spur of the moment interest. It also wouldn't matter how active those 30 people are in posting in the subforum, because none of those other 970 would be aware of it, since they're not reading the 'Dust' forum.

If you want a Dust Forum. Start posting in the Dust Posts. dont let them get Buried by other gaming systems, just make sure that your post contributes to the topic.

If you cant do that then it does not deserve its own forum yet

Edit: This goes for all things that users want subforums for. (scenery section etc)
