So here is my recently painted Baal predator tank for my Blood Angels army. I tried something a little different, heavily using the Citadel shade: nuln oil all over the model showing a distress look. My vision was seeing this tank in the heat of battle with guns, bombs, and explosives going off all around the tank, making it dirty and gritty. The silver used is an enamel made by Testors while the rest of the colors are various acrylics. Lastly everything is magnetized for changing out equipment. Let me know what you think, thanks!.

Looks great! Is this your own custom chapter?

We are winged salvation, but we are a terrible, final salvation, and our wings embrace the horizon with fire. We are the Blood Angels. To confront us is to die, and death is my remit, my reality, my unbounded domain. I have known death, and defeated it, claimed it as my own. To my cost, to my strength, death is my one gift to bestow, and I am nothing if not generous.

Thanks! Yes, this is my own custom chapter. Everyone is two toned in some way with either red/silver or red/gold. I make everyone a different pattern just for fun; I get bored painting the same thing for every model. No name for the chapter yet.

You did a fabulous job keeping the lines sharp, which can be very tricky when doing a quartered theme. The issue I have is with the weathering.... It kills the model. Washes do not work well over large, flat panels like on tanks because they are designed to pool in recesses on models. There are various other ways to show wear and tear, just check out the Painting & Modeling Tutorial forum. All and all, it's good, solid work and you should be proud of it.

Appreciate the comments. I understand there are other methods for weathering a tank or armor that does not involve the use of a wash, just felt like trying something new (at least new for me). Plus I was trying to figure out the best way to take pictures of my models in my environment (bought a newer camera recently and I think it is turning out quite well). People always saw that painting straight lines is really difficult but I honestly don't find it that hard, if you have a steady hand. I do not have an airbrush, most of my paints are not the expensive GW or other brands (most are from Michaels), and I freehand everything while watching tv, haha.

I really like washes cause it can make any gakky paint job look pretty good. I don't always use them excessively but they are just so fun.

Very weathered. amazing what nul oil can do, havent tried it yet but this paint job is inspiring me to buy some. The quartered paint job has been done nicely....good clean edges and symmetric. My only recommendation would be to add a few sharp highlights to the edges. ---especially for the red, it will really make it stand out!

I will consider adding some highlights, it's a great idea. I tend to make my highlights a little too thick though, just a habit I need to work on. But at least doing them on the red, like you said, would look nice.

Just to kinda show you guys where I was going with my BA army, here are a few pictures of what I have painted looks like together.

I see, so lots of silver lots of red. Its definitely different but could pass for a sucessor chapter. I have about 4k worth of BA, that now since my painting has improved, have decided to start a new BA army.......version 2.0 . If your interested check out my BA pictures in my gallery....i just painted mine the basic chapter colors with slight variations.

Do you plan to have Death Co.? If so what colors are you going to paint them?

Works for me.

Any chance of a closer pic of The Sanguinor, he looks pretty cool, but its hard to judge at that distance.

Element 206 - I checked out your stuff, everything is so crisp and clean. You can really tell that you took the time to get all the lines perfect. I do like the default blood angels coloring and probably would of went that direction originally. My problem is I can't just paint the same model the same way, like an assembly line, and I always question my self. For death company, I was considering getting a few models (especially with the new 6th edition rules). I really don't know what color I would paint them. Everyone seems to go with black with red X's, which is already pretty badass.

Morathi's Darkest Sin - Thanks Here are a few pictures of sanguinor. The problem is that it is hard to take a picture of him. I used an enamel silver that is very bright and shiny, but looks so dull and boring in the pictures. Just like the rest of my army, I did not go with the basic color scheme but instead went with a silver/platinum. i like to think that he is soaring out of the sky, ready to smite some people. I think the Sanguinor model is pretty cool except for his small legs.

I still have lots to paint, 8 more sanguinary guard, a vindicator, a rhino, bunch or space marines, and terminators. I am really considering starting painting a daemon army, focused on khorne. But i dunno yet. I also have tyranids but i never paint any of the little horde guys cause i get bored painting the same model over and over.

Hey thanks alot for the checking out my stuff....soon I plan to have some new pictures up of my Blood Angels usiing the new citadel paint line.

Your right, the death company already looks nice, I was thinking though since you have a red/silver quartered thing going on with your army that your DC could be black/silver quartered with the red X's......just a suggestion.....keep up the good work!

I've always liked the Angels Encarmine DC and SG. White armor looks darn sexy in my opinion...

That is actually a really cool idea, I will take that into consideration when I buy some death company. Right now I have moved away from my BA to daemons. Damn you short attention span.
