With whit the white is the highlight you normally use a grey or blue in the recessess to simulate shadowing. And with golds go to slightly lighter gold colours but then for a final highlight do an incredibly fine line of silver. Mithril silver tends to be the correct silver shade.

No offence mercer but you just look at the page before you post.

Anyway that's got some goos stuff in.
White is the extreme, nothing can be whiter so you can't higlight it.

Perhaps start with a darker "white" like fortress grey then go up to skull white.

Hmm grey or blue. I don't think the blues will work I have, but grey might work nicely.

Tried silver before, looks ok.

Haha, what a total fail

I've used the base ceramite white, was thinking codex or fortress grey, maybe even skull white or mix of bleached bone and white?

if you don't like silver, just mix silver and gold to get a highlight color for gold.

Hey Mercer, I'm going to try putting some checkers on an ork Kan here in a bit. My plan is to use the new color "longbeard grey" as my base "white", and the highlight it with skull white. They're pretty close but there is a difference... I'll let you know how it works.

The other thing I've done is use Vallejo's "pale wash" which is a very dilute light grey wash. That works reasonably well for defining the shadows and giving you a defacto highlight in the high areas.

With gold I find the key is to get a nice deep gold colour to begin with. I find using bronze with a chestnut wash works well for a nice rich base colour. Then you can use actual gold to highlight and maybe the lightest touch of mithril silver to give edge gleam.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

I think a 1:1 mix of gold and silver maybe the way forward. Thanks every one

Good highlights on metallics are all about the shading. Contrast is key, or it'll look indistinct.

For a rich gold, try a purple wash, before highlighting with a gold/silver mix, with pure silver extreme highlights.
