Bounding Assault Marine

In the new fAQ for Codex:Space Marines there updated combat squads and this line as me confused "A unit split into combat squads therefore is now two separate units for all game purposes including calculating the total number of units in the army, and the number of units you can place in reserve." Does this mean that three tactical squads split into combat squads is six units on the force organization chart?

I would say no because you split them at deployment, not during army selection. However, I've not seen the new book, so I could wrong.

You cannot place more than 50% of your army in reserves ( calculated ignoring things that MUST be put in reserve like aircraft / pods / etc. )
Thats primarily what it means I think.

The FAQ changed when you combat squad, IIRC. It said "before deployment", not "when deploying the unit". So they're presumably squadded in reserves already.

As far as comabt squadding goes, yeah it basicallt affects how many squads you have to depoly. For example I like taking 2 Dreads in Drop pods and a squad of 10 Terminators that Deep strike and THEN split into groups of 5. Well now If I dont have enough Units to deploy I MUST keep the terms as a group of 5 Because now they count as TWO units if I inted to split them. It knida took away some of the flexibility of a combat squad. You can no longer wait to see how things turn out and decide once they hit. You have to decide pregame weather or not they will be splitting. Kinda takes the split decision out of it :(
