So if you look at the eldar FAQ and you look at the DE FAQ there is one noticeable difference: harlequins get shroud and stealth in the eldar FAQ, but there is no mention of it in the DE FAQ. I mean i guess technically my harlies are much worse than eldar ones now, but i feel like its just a mistake on GWs part. what do you guys think?

The FAQs are poorly written and obviously rushed. That said, they still stand, which means your DE harlies do indeed suck all kinds of ass.

I was told (at time of the Dark Eldar Codex release) by GW staff that you should use the FAQ from the Eldar Codex for Harlequins in regards to the Harlequin entry in the DE book.
So that's what I've been doing since, and it's what I'll keep doing now.

Which provides further evidence that GW staff are totally out of touch with the ruleset that they are supposed to promote.

Faf, we all know the Harlies have been the same for Eldar and Dark Eldar, and it's very obviously a rushed mistake-despite that GW workers don't know all the answers, I think this is one of those cases where they're deciding on logic-just roll with it. Most people are going to be playing Harlies with Eldar FAQ, regardless-I can honestly say I don't know anyone who would argue someone's right to do so.

Don't know if it means anything, but, in the Rule Book on page 412, Harlequins are referenced separate from both the Eldar and Dark Eldar and yet placed between them. Is that a metaphor or what?

I don't write the rules. My ego just lives and dies by them one model at a time. |

well i dont know the part your talking about exaclty (im at work) but harlies are eldar, and they tend to kinda go between both races like gypsies. There are Harlies in Comorragh and there are harlies on the craftworld. they are all the same species and they tend to interact deeply with both societies. it makes sense they would be put with the two groups.

#1. Leaving out the DE Harlequins from the FAQ was obviously an oversight.
#2. My guess that Shrouding and Steath were meant to replace the spotting distance rule, but they errored in what rules they replace. Harlequins worked fine and did not need to get -3 to their cover save out of the blue.

i kind of like it, gives a good coversave for harlies instead of a all or nothing roll. harlies behind cover or in terrain become dangerous but in the open its a 4+ cover when they already have a 5++ holo suits
unless i'm reading it wrong it replaced 2 d6 x2 for range but hey as long as you have a good lien behind cover you can keep that cover save nice and low in place of it

Harlies are a distinct group all of their own, they don't live on a craftworld or in Comorragh, they live in the Webway, and I think guard the Black Library. They are exactly the same whether they are with Eldar or Dark Eldar.

This just shows how bad the Eldar FAQ is.
So they try to change a working rule and fail, while leaving Surprise Assault (giving DS for jump infantry; two editions now) and Intercept (hitting vehicles 4+; never going to happen with current 3+) intact. Good job on botching.

way to go GW, way to screw things up. What happens if you battle brother DE and CWE together and take multiple squads of harlies?

Harlequins were NEVER in the Dark Eldar FAQ though, obviously it's meant to be the same unit ( being they basically copy and pasted it across anyway xD )

The thing is, GW has set the precedent of making the same units different between codex FAQs with this recent batch already, with Daemon Princes between CSM and Daemons.
Playing by RAW, you cannot play DE Harlequins like Eldar Harlequins.
If you have a problem with it, blame GW for being too lazy to properly support their own damn game, rather than any one player.

Well let's hope that this all gets cleared up quickly and hopefully not just until all the codices come out again.
