I am wondering, will we be seeing fortifications in future codices? I amsking this because wwhile anyone can take the "Imperial" fortifications(even tyranids strangely) it would be odd for tyranids "Fortifications" to be taken by imperials"
Im just asking because of the lack of xenos love when it comes to terrain.

I heard we will be seeing "expansions" in White Dwarf. That will be VERY nice, if true.

You could always model other fortifications with a xenos twist.

I like this idea. There are lots of good inspirational material in the various codices and BRBs to start you off. And the gallery here on Dakka is wonderful.

Tau, Orks, and Chaos can all use the Imperial fortifications and have it thematically fit if you use some converting, though the Tau seem do discourage the static defensive line as much as possible.

Necrons and Eldar seem above the concept of static defense.

Tyranids and DE don't really defend.

from what I gathered on the examples of fortications that were given was that it would be totally weird for tyranids say to be using those exact fortifications, so instead of taking it as I see it, I figure the rules are there and to use while the examples are just a visual representation of the kind of thing they mean, subject to change per faction.

Saying that I hope they don't expand on them too much... I really do not like them. The landing platform thing that gives 4+ invuln to everything on it? Is just asking for perched heavy weapons /repeat.

I didn't get to read it for too long though, are there conditions to using those fortifications or are they for any game/mission type.

Yeah but a wraithbone Aegis line would really spruce up the ole deployment zone a lil.

i made a tau bastion and used the closest weapons that the imperial bastion uses.

heavy bolters was replaced with long barrel burst cannons.
lcarus cannon replaced with solid shot railgun.
quad gun replaced with twin-linked ion cannon.

as for the bastion it self i just went outside and liberated one of my grandma's pots that had her flowers. she blamed the those damn kids that lived next door to us. but also liked how my new model was turning out

I would like some capillary towers for my nids for some sort of bubble effect. And perhaps a spawning pool for more troops.

Depends.

Necrons might put static defenses at the entrance to underground tunnels leading to their tombs or something of similar value to them. Craftworlders might similarly find reasons to put static defenses in place. Say, for instance, that an ork horde has landed on a Maiden World occupied by Exodites, and the Craftworlders have arrived to help drive the greenskins back. Exodite settlements wouldn't exactly be able to pick up and move, so static positions would probably be employed to keep the greenskins at bay in certain areas.

Depends what you mean by non-static defence that would take the place of a static defence.

A floating/moving defence is flawed at the very concept because if it drops everything on it goes with it.

My plan is, seeing as 6th didn't help them like I was planning at all, is to take one of my many Monoliths and convert it into a " Downed Monolith". I think it would look amazing as a Bastion.

lol @ Insaniak's bastions.

TBH, I considered it...

Aegis Defence Line = Ork Barricades = Imperial Guard Trench etc...
Imperial Bastion = Ork Fort

etc...

Just make a building that suits your army similar size and style to the terrain you want.

We need MOAR Dakka!

Or plonk a Stompa down as an Ork Bastion

I have one that's going to be 'under construction' as a Fortress of Redemption (body is the tower, gun arm as the turret, lots of scaffolding everywhere...)

The book says more Fortification datasheets will be published in WD and online. But I don't expect ever to see plastic xenos Fortifications. A 0-1 choice is a pretty terrible waste of resources to produce when it can't even be taken by the majority of armies (ie. Imperial)
