Visually, on paper it's necrons. But play testing and generalship will decide in the end. Daemons got really good too. I hope GKs are dead. Space wolves too.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Given allies I don't see any one army having an advantage since most every army (except nids) can take a unit or two to make up for what the main force lacks..

Necrons. Hands down.

Glances on every 6. Night fighting every game means the lightning IC is going to see a ton of play. Jink helps them out a lot. I honestly can not think of a nerf that effects them....

Tau certainly got a huge boost. Though lack of target locks and no anti-air is a little sad, we still got all kinds of stuff; death by glance on light vehicles with pulse rifles, ignoring nightfight, overwatch, and RAILGUNS!

Necrons, I mean 6 to glance, and they get fliers that can be taken as troop transports too. take 6 night scythes, 3 doom scythes, pop night fight and proceed to table your opponent.

Games Workshop: Ruining Chaos Space Marines since 2007

First they raised prices on the Eldar, and I did not speak out because I did not play Eldar.

Then, they raised prices on the Orks, and I did not speak out because I did not play Orks.

Then, they raised prices on the Nids, and I did not speak out because I did not play Nids.

Then, they raised prices on the Marines, and there was nobody to speak out for me.

I love how I heard nothing but admiration at how Necrons were actually pretty balanced at not broken like GK. However, as of June 30th....... 1D4Chan put it best, Necrons are now a Rape train without brakes, and the irony of it all gives me a good chuckle.

No more Preferred Enemy, Emperor's Champion can't be the Warlord so we have to pay for an HQ, no Characters other than our HQs. Land Speeder Typhoons, one of our only good units, now has 2 Hull Points. Furious Charge no longer grants bonus I.

Buff-wise, we more or less only got the improved 2+ saves that everyone else got.

seems like Tau and DW at the moment, those 2 have recieved some of the best buffs, not necessarily the biggest but it has made them rise from the bottom tier (i put DW up there with guard BA etc now) I'd put tau a solid mid tier now with the adition of allies

@almighty Walrus

well It is kind of sucky that they decided to get rid of preffered enemy, but rage is pretty great IMO, and yeah it is pretty stupid that we HAVE to have 2 HQ's but I still feel that 6th hasnt nerfed them too much

I have been playing Space Wolves since Space wolves came out in White Dwarf, I owned Rogue trader, and I still remember the original rules for Grey Knight terminators where the whole squad were Terminator Librarians, they were cool as hell. I just could never justify shelling out the money for an entire metal army.

No more Preferred Enemy,

BTs had access to army-wide Preferred Enemy, but did anybody really think they were going to keep that?!?
Everybody except the die-hard head-in-the-sand-types knew that this was coming.
You now have Rage instead, which isn't a bad ability at all.

Emperor's Champion can't be the Warlord so we have to pay for an HQ,

Just like he couldn't be a mandatory HQ (unless you played 750 or below) before. Nothing has changed.

no Characters other than our HQs

Yes, the changes to Characters has indeed hit BTs pretty hard. I will certainly give you that.

.
Land Speeder Typhoons, one of our only good units, now has 2 Hull Points.

This applies equally to every army that can take Typhoons

Furious Charge no longer grants bonus I.

Again this applies equally to every army in the game. My Orks don't enjoy hitting after Imperial Guardsmens either....thems the breaks.

Buff-wise, we more or less only got the improved 2+ saves that everyone else got.

Why did you assume that a buff was forthcoming, needed or indeed deserved?

Well Nightscythes have been sold out locally since 6th came out soooo.... looks like an interesting edition ahead. It'll depend if Tournys allow allies and forts that will determine the new power.

And really if tournys let broken things like allies and forts in I dont see why forgeworld is still frowned upon.

Rick Priestley said it best:
Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!

Depends on how you define "most", or what is important to you.

After looking at the rulebook and comparing the pagecounts and contents, I'm tempted to say "the same army that got the most out of all editions before - Space Marines".
Which sadly isn't surprising at all, tho.

JohnnoM wrote:What aspects of daemons got good?

From what my friends have said regarding a recent game, it's the fact that winged daemons are now flying monstrous creatures, which are ridiculously difficult to bring down. When they stay in the air, they can only be hit on 6s (barring Skyfire), have high toughness, multiple wounds, and decent saves. We had one of our resident daemon players play a game against one of our resident IG players, and the daemon player absolutely wiped the floor with him. IIRC, the daemon player had him tabled by turn 3.

Overall, I'd say that Daemons got a boost, Tau got a decent boost (mostly because getting charged isn't an automatic death sentence now, what with overwatch potentially stopping a charge dead in its tracks) and Necrons are damned powerful with virtually everything in their codex able to take on vehicles in one form or another. Judging by a few of our games, IG got a hair nastier too, since Leman Russes are now not only capable of dealing with vehicles, but able to do damage to multiple vehicles at once, depending on how close they are to each other. Had a game with IG and Necrons against Chaos and Wolves, and the IG just shredded every transport within a couple of turns.

Eldar I have since 6th came out played one game, and destroyed a Deathwing Dark Angels army with My Jetbike Mechdar (VP 11-2, had one model left). Eldar definitely have recieved a lot more boosts then nerfs, with increased movement distances, better firing for fast skimmers, Eldar Jetbikes moving 36" total with a flat-out move - not to mention lots of previously "bad" Eldar units are now viable again. (see swooping hawks, Vypers, etc).
