probably not easy, but seems like you could convert a standard acog-style scope into something eotech-ish by shaving off the front half and then drilling out the back half, maybe? of course, you might just end up with a ginormous o-ring iron sight at the end of all that...

You can get a decent acog lookielikey by using lasgun muzzles. You might be able to trim a bit more and whittle down to a more rectangular look with a steady hand. Alternatively what about bits of sprue? Especially where the big cylindrical bits come off the main sprue stems.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Thanks flinty but acids aren't the issue got that one covered but thanks for the solution.

Varl thanks for the suggestion, was hoping there was a shop bought part somewhere as time and conversion skills are limited :-)

Cheers

Gathering the Informations.

Scopes on Lasguns are silly, because they have integral scopes.

See that "tube" running along the top of the lasgun? That's the integral scope!

Googling for 1/35 scale ACOGs found me these. No idea about the company, though.

kanulwen, is that the case? never seen that anywhere before, got a source for that? also adding a sight to a rifle with an integral scope isnt silly, look at the g36k or g36e, these have an inbuild scope but have a reflex sight added on top to assist with cqb and similar snap shooting.

thanks scipio, those are awesome, so 1/35 is ig scale then? never sure on that

cheers

GW models are somewhere between 1:35 and 1:48, but the guns tend to be somewhat larger than life, so the larger scopes might work well.

One of the problems with GW's chibi styling is things like this. They are larger scale in girth - but only about 1/60-55 in terms of height.

I have the CompM2s from that set that a friend sent me for a scale project I have been working on - they are about 4 mm long (3rd row on set #1). The IG lasgun is about an inch long - which would be about 1/40 scale if you compare it to something like an M16. By themselves or with larger scale figures - it actually doesn't look too bad on the lasgun. However...

When you put it on the lasgun and then put it in the hands of an IG figure, the scope sticks up almost past his head when posed to fire (butt to the shoulder). You don't notice it as much when the gun is down around waist level - but it still doesn't look right. Sort of like those pictures of the child soldiers from Africa carrying around AK-47s.

You can make scopes which are sized more correctly (or incorrectly depending on how you want to look at it) by using plastic tube and rod from Evergreen or Plastruct.

Previous Guard Codex and the Uplifting Primer both mentioned this, if I remember right.

Just waking up so not entirely 100% yet.

Maybe something like this:

A bit pricey, but excellent for scale!

Hope this helps, more pictures in my pbase folder: http://www.pbase.com/crusader40k/imperial_guard&page=all
