I played a wonderful game today against a fantastically painted tyranid army (I play IG)

Two events that stuck in my mind were one of my veteran squads managing to wipe out a genestealer squad in close combat, losing no troops in return.

The other was my stormtrooper Sgt singlehandedly taking 3 wounds from a tervigon (2 in close combat)

So yes, any game moments that have stayed with you and why

I have a few:
A terminator with an assault cannon sealed his own fate when he rolled four 1's to-hit with his assault cannon against an ork warboss with powerklaw. The boss took the kill only with the extra attack he got from charging.

My daemon prince, after spending three games not loosing a single wound got himself killed turn 1 on his fourth game from lascannon fire, rolling 1's on all of his saves.

Tarpitting 60+ ork boyz because I caught them in a choke-point with a dreadnought on either end.

Testing out kharn, only to have him kill only the marines in his unit...

Watching someone's vortex of doom power take out his librarian and five terminators..

If you see slaanesh, just look away.

A friend was playing as my marines vs. my tyranids. Turn 5 and im down to 2 weakened squads of genestealers, he's down to an unharmed dread with plasma cannon/heavy flamer. Dread fires plasma cannon at closest genestealers, scatters backwards onto itself, penetrated, wrecked. I had the biggest fething grin on my face.

Last week my best mate wiped out a squad of plasma vets with a full pack of blood claws only for me to tar pit them for the rest of the game by assaulting them with an armoured sentinel! 5th edtion still...don't forget to take Power fists next time. He spent three turns trying to stuff krag grenades up the tailpipe before the game ended!

I've lone Guardsman take out a Termie, and one Marine who lasted shot after shot...but what got me and I never know why it stays with me as *that* one thing.
In one game I was playing IG and had a pie plate scatter from one target and land on a unit and wipe it out..and that was my only kills so far by round 4..then his scouts out flanked me, and charged my walker, attacked it, and it blew, six inches, and took out all of the scouts. All wounds, no saves.
That was a turning point, from there my gun ship came in, opened up with heavy bolters, multi laser and dropped ten guys, and my storm troopers hit the table, and I was back into things..but that one little walker blowing it's top...just got me going again.

Not my game, but a friend's from a long while back. It was Tau vs. Imperial Guard, with the Guard player opting to run a ballsy list of a few heavies plus two giant blobs of infantry (I believe using Al'rahem and Straken). Over the course of the game, the Guard player lost everything he had, until his army was virtually tabled on turn 3. At that point, Straken was the only model he had left on the table, except for a few wrecks. This was apparently the appropriate time for Straken to fly into an invincible rage, because over turns 4-6, Straken, alone, ran around the table and punched out entire squads of Crisis Suits, Fire Warriors and Pathfinders without any trouble. Oh, the Tau player tried to kill him, but Straken didn't fail a single save for three whole turns. The game turned around drastically, and while it was still a loss, the Guard player turned a massacre into a minor loss with one model and insane luck.

a Random smattering of my favorite game moments.
My Friend Matt melting down about his dice, this is always entertaining. One game i rolled really well and destroyed about 9 of his tanks with las cannon fire on the first turn. He flipped out and was yelling at me because i kept putting damage tokens on his vehicles. It was priceless.

Another moment was grimly serious. I played in a tourni against a TFG Gamer down in Los Angeles. He started out the match by telling me he was going to table me, and then making all kinds of statements about how he was going to bend the rules. From the first moment the game was really stressful. Last die roll of the game i fired a Las Cannon Shot across the table at his land raider and blew it up winning the round. It felt amazing.

I have had endless really great moments but that and games with my freind Matt really stand out.

We had a weekend event in our local GW with a horde of Zombies attacking a single 40k character of your choice, using kill team rules. Come the Zombie turn, there are 7 found to be in charge range of one of the players, but with dangerous terrain in the way.

The store manager declares a charge with all 7 Zombies. He takes his terrain test, and rolls...

Played a game of 6th ed at the weekend there. My Purgation Squad took like 20 armour saves during the whole game and I didn't lose a single guy .

I was playing Blood Angels and throughout the whole game I lost one Paladin and Draigo and that was it.

Another game was an apocalypse game where I was playing with my Blood Angels and manged to take off the last structure point and destroy a Stormlord Super Heavy in the middle of the board. I ended up rolling an Apocalyptic explosion and then I rolled thre 6s for the distance. SInce the Stormlord was in the middle of the board it destroyed most of the stuff from both sides with it's S9 AP2 blast. It took us a good 40 minutes of the game to roll for everything to wound it and take any invulnerable saves. It then came to rolling for my Honour Guard who had shield on them with a Libby attached. I rolled four 6s to keep most of the unit alive.

I once watched my friend playing a game (guard vs marines)

The guard had wiped out most of the marines, until the chaplain showed up, alone from DS. He then shrugged of battlecannons and lasguns, and proceeded to charge and kill a lot of guardsmen. At the same time, a lone tactical seargent with a chainsword ran around killing guardmen units with sweeping advance.

Was rather amusing...

I have a couple.

One of them was my first 6th game last weekend. Psyker sitting in a Chimera causing trouble. I drop all of my stuff on that tank, only causing the loss of 2 Hull Points. One Warrior from one my objective killed it with one lucky shot.

Another was not my own, but the guy I was playing in example 1 killed Abaddon in CC with a...

overwatch kill on cortez (the GK guy that allows purifyers to be troops) when he solo charged my harlies and i got him with a single fusion pistol.

wayyyy back in the day i was playing my marines against tau and i had one unit of GK termies attached. he wiped most my army (before the days of drop pods) but kept rolling terribly for shrouding (basically GK used to be invisible past like 2d6x3 distance) i finally hit his lines and with the old consolidation being able to assult into nearby units i moved from one table edge to the other over the next 3 turns and wiped his whole gun line.

that old consolidation was soooo strong because your gonna wipe a unit in your turn, assult the next one, be safe from shooting in their turn, wipe that unit, move your guys in the next turn and assult again. unless the enemy was really mobile, there was no way to get away from it.

Have to agree on the epicness there..

My favourite has to be the time i played a 3000 pt game against this real jerk of a guy.

He lays out his SM, having won the deployment. It's a pretty impressive mass of armour-plating and power armour, taking up a good chunk of the table.

He goes on a bit, as i grab my case to deploy, about how he can barely get his force to fit into his deployment zone, and how the sheer number of badass marines will overwhelm any force put against him, bar none..

I start unpacking my Orks..

There literally isn't room for me to deploy everybody, so about 1/2 my Greentide/BW list stays in the box.

He seems a little stunned at the hundred and lots greenskins across the table from him, but gets over the big eyes enough to begin play. He brought a goodly few lascannons, meltaguns, and missile launchers, but not much in the way of pieplates or flamers (as they 'weren't optimal for tournaments ) ..

My tide rolls forward, and my next turn a chunk of my reserves come in, so they pile on behind the tidal wave of green already moving uptable.

He big-eyes again, shakes his head, and gets on with killing the front units off, looking a bit nervous..

My third turn, the rest of my reserves come on, and follow the other two waves...

He pitches a hissyfit, saying that that many orks can't possibly be 3000 pts. I show him my list, the TO confirms it..

He collapses in a chair, face in hands...

Mine was in a tournament game against a Choas Daemons (40K) player.

Tau are holed up in and around a single building in a corner.

3 Flamers of Tzeentch drop in and melt the daylights out of a 8-man FW squad. Only one FW survives.

Leadership check is a 2 or 3 (Can't recall). Crisis suits blow away the flamers and take all but 1 wound off a Daemon Prince (Also of tzeentch iirc) with the help of a broadside or two.

Fire Warrior fires and plinks off the final wound of the Prince.

A turn or two later, Furies have just hit within charge range. Same fire warrior doubletaps and drops one.

They charge. He strikes first (through terrain) and deals another wound before being shredded by their attack.

He is now a squad leader

Imagine the feeling when you position your tanks, engines idling, landing gear deployed for a low profile, with firing solutions along a key bottleneck. Then some fether lands a dreadnought behind them in a giant heat shielded coke can.

Just remembered another one.

My squad of 5 Shield + Sword Lychguard and a lord was surrounded by Melta-vet stuffed Chimeras. Wipe out all three of the Chimeras with bouncing lascannons + meltas.

It was statistically impossible. 5 guys passed like 20/23 4+ saves

I regularly play against the Grey Knights /Dark Angels of a friend of mine and we always have a few hilarious constants in our games.

For once he has incredible problems with killing my Rhinos, for example his Stormraven shot 2 rounds in the rear of a Rhino of mine with a Lascannon and a Multimelter just managing to stun it once with the MM

Or his Deathwing clanged their hammers for 3 turns against my immobilized Rhino, managing only to rip off one of the Stormbolters before it managed to repaired itself and drive away, I guess the driver whas really getting tired of the din the teminators were making

I've only had two 6th edition games so far, but I already have a moment that's stuck with me. Both 500 point battle recons against the same Dark Eldar player. I got tabled in the third turn with a Speed Freak-ish list that got stranded footslogging by the end of the first. The second game seemed to be going very much as the first as a Green Tide marched down the field taking horrendous casualties from the Dark Eldar splinter cannons and rifles. My slugga mob with the warboss managed to get to their gunline just as the last of the boyz got gunned down around him. The boss, somehow shrugging off over a dozen hits but with only a single wound left, waded into two units of the enemy warriors with two homoculus (sp?), and used his big choppa to wreck shop. The homoculus were both cut down, the warriors managed to keep from fleeing, and in the following round of combat he slaughtered the remaining warriors and ran them down. Only one wounded boss, 9 shoota boyz, and a single squad of warriors remained. With the shoota boyz out of range, the warriors needed only to stop the boss to have a chance to get to turn six and end the game. They opened fire and -- nothing. The boss absorbed the shots like they were BB guns. Sprinting to close the distance with a 10" assault, he smashed four of them into greasy little stains and they ran like punks.

Gonna need more than lucky rolls to survive 6th, but it's always cool to see your favorite hero play like a champ.

I'm not nitpicking or anything but his name is Coteaz and he allows Inquisitorial henchmen to be troops. It's Castellan Crowe that allows Purifiers to be troops. Just for your info and just in case your opponent has accidentally taken an illegal list or something. Probably not, he probably has Crowe on the table as well.
