So my for my upcoming Death Guard army I'm thinking of running Typhus as my HQ. I'm also buying a set of the Forge World Death Guard Terminator kits for my Terminator squad that goes with him. The squad is only 4 Terminators, so I would have a left over torso and was thinking on using that for a Typhus conversion. I was wondering if anyone knew of a scythe that was close to the size of his Manreaper (I'd prefer one handed cause I think it would be easier to work with) and if I should mess with his legs, hack of the top half of the current Typhus model and use those legs because I'm not very good with GS at all. Just some small things I wondered about for a conversion.

Unfortunately, I don't know of any good sites to get a Manreaper-style bit.

That being said, I think even a novice convertor should be able to handle this pretty easily.

The handle:
1.) Get some 3/32nd" thick rod. If brass, bend in 2 places to give a gentle curve. if styrene, you may want to soften it by holding a lighter a few inches under it and spinning it.
2.) For the grip, you can either use tamiya masking tape if you have it, or if not, cut a strip of newspaper 1/8th" thick and a few inches long, soak it in watered-down PVA glue, and wrap it around the middle. Let dry.

The blade:
1.) If you already have some styrene stock, great. If not, find an old credit or gift card, sand both ides, and glue them so it's 2 cards thick with model cement or similar. Let dry.
2.) Shape the blade; optionally with a dremel tool - if not, glue some sandpaper to a popsicle stick and go slowly and be patient.
3.) You can make the guard with a strip of styrene from the same stock you used for the blade.

Here's a google image search with a good reference image:

Alternatively, you could find two handed weapon arms and work with that. For terminators, you can find them in the GK box.

That's what I used for this guy :

I have always wanted to make my own Typhus model, and for the Manreaper I had planned on using a Tyranid Scything Talon for the blade.

Heresy Miniatures Minor Fallen One comes with a scythe which I use for most of my needs. he's a tad expensive just for the one component (I've been asking Andy for years to sell it separately!) but the results are good.

My own Typhus uses the Scibor Chaos Master as a base, but that won't work for your purposes, I'm scratchbuilding the scythe out of brass rod, plasticard and a few bits that I can scrounge up from other models

This would be an awesome scythe blade! How big is it/what kit is it from? (I don't know Tyranids at all). As for your custom Typhus Charax, that will look great when finished I think and he will be huge. I have the same model except painted for my World Eaters. Thanks for the feed back!

I used a scythe from http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/scythe/sku-down/06134 (reapermini) for several of my models. You can buy just the scythe on the bottom of the page there and there are a couple of different styles.
