Cozy cockpit of an Archer ARC-5S

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/wnt/blog.jsp?pid=3100044-gws

It's time to don my scarf and flying goggles again because today a new aircraft makes it into the skies of the 41st Millennium - the Avenger Strike Fighter. As a staunch defender of the Imperium I was pleased to see an impressive number of guns mounted on the front of the the Avenger including the avenger bolt cannon - a high-Strength multi-barrelled affair that can tear up enemy planes (and even light vehicles) with ease. It'll also make quite a mess of Space Marines (traitor ones, of course).

At over nine inches long and with a nine inch wingspan, the Avenger is a pretty sizeable craft. Beneath its wings there's plenty of space to fit extra weaponry such as hellstrike missiles and multi-lasers just in case the bolt cannon and lascannons weren't enough firepower for you. To cap off this wonderfully detailed flying machine are two clear resin canopies that fit over the cockpit, which have been specially designed for the Avenger. There's also a cheeky heavy stubber peaking out the rear-facing secondary dorsal cockpit (we spend ages trying to find its technical name on the internet) to put a couple of holes in enemy craft that get too close.

Can be found on FW for £85.00: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff/AVENGER_STRIKE_FIGHTER.html

Cheap looting, It looks orky enough already.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.

I think it is worth noting which site the model is being pimped on, given the current rumors...

Want! I could make a nice Dakka Jet from that. How do FW keep comeing up with ways to take my money off mee. I don't need it, I have better things to spend money on, but, like the spartan I know I'll end up getting one.

It doesn't seem to fit well to the aesthetic set by the amazing Thunderbolt. It reminds me of pod racers from starwars.

That said, I too am getting looting ideas for it for the orks... Wouldn't have to do too much to it.

At last! Really like the design of this beast, it matches quite well with the valkyries so I am happy with that!

It's a bit weird looking. The pod racer engine thing is bang on.

Overall, not really a fan I have to say. If it were single engine with crimped wings, I might feel a little differently, but as it is now...

Aye, I was thinking that. Odd that GW have stolen Forgeworld's thunder... Couple that with the fact that today should be a Warhammer Forge release (last week was a 40K release) based on alternating release patterns for the past year.

Could almost imagine that on release days FW's site gets more traffic than GWs site on certain release days...

Eh. Could be coincidence, they have previewed FW stuff before. And the Studio Open Day is tomorrow, with Forge World making note on their FB page that they'll be in attendance showing off the Avenger and some more stuff.

Dear me, that's a terrible looking aircraft. It's just the wrong mix of retro and futuristic.

The full Newsletter: GENCON 2012!!! With Black Library Writers! Woo Hoo! I'm getting some autographs...

Hi there,
We’ve got a little something from the Imperial Navy for you in this week’s newsletter, in the form of the fantastic new Avenger Strike Fighter, and we’ve also got a reminder about the events that we’ll be attending over the summer.

Imperial Avenger Strike Fighter

The Avenger is a dedicated strike fighter, intended to conduct high-speed, low-level attacks on ground targets, with armoured vehicle formations and high-value strategic assets such as munitions dumps forming its principal prey. The Avenger Strike Fighter boasts firepower that exceeds most other Imperial aircraft of its size, and in particular its reputation as a tank-killer is due to the Avenger bolt cannon it carries.

The Avenger is an ancient design, believed to originate on Ancient Terra sometime during the Age of Strife. It was adopted by forces loyal to the Divine Saint Sebastian Thor during the bloody wars of faith now called the Age of Apostasy. Its effectiveness is such that it is now a staple of any Imperial Navy air support mission, holding a glamour of holy import in the wider Imperium. The Avenger is often specifically requested by the Adeptus Sororitas should they require close support in their purgations, whatever the truth of its providence.

The Avenger Strike Fighter is a finely-detailed multi-part resin kit designed by Daren Parrwood. The kit contains two crew figures and a fully detailed cockpit interior, and the two lascannons supplied with this kit can both be supplemented and replaced with other Forge World Imperial Navy weapons.
Full rules for the Avenger can be found in Imperial Armour Aeronautica, and the kit is available to pre-order now for despatch from Friday 27th July.

Forge World 6th Edition Rules Updates
The Imperial Armour team have been hard at work compiling a set of PDF updates that allow our full range of models to be used in games of 6th edition Warhammer 40,000 alongside the relevant Imperial Armour book. We are amending and adding to these updates regularly, and they can be found on our Downloads page.

If you have any queries about Imperial Armour rules, army lists or units, please send an e-mail entitled 'Imperial Armour rules query' to forgeworld@gwplc.com, including examples of how the situation has arisen in play. You can also call 0115 900 4995 within the UK, 011 44 115 900 4995 from the US and Canada or 00 44 115 900 4995 from much of Europe

It's ok, but this was the perfect aircraft for shark teeth, except they didn't leave any room on the nose... The wings should have been pushed back a bit.
