Hi Dakka, I want to get a new case and I'm looking at the KR Card one which is £23.99, I'd like the alluminium one but i could save a lot going for the card which can be used to fuel my GK Project, Has anyone ever used/known anyone who has used this case before? If you have I'd like your thoughts on it as it will help me make my decision. I'd like to know anything about it, from durability to practicality.
Cheers!

I use these exclusively to transport my models. They work fine, I have never had any issues. I mean, they're obviously going to wear out eventually, but they're good value for all that.

I have one of the card cases. It is surprisingly durable for something made of cardboard. The price is nice for somebody on a budget, but I don't really like the softness of the foam.

I've got a bunch of them, and they are awesome. Very, very solid... not just cardboard box card, but thicker. Can take a battering.
There's a waterproof bag you can get for them if it rains. Alernatively, a carrier bag works.

They are very good, especially if you get the backpack too.
btw, I shouldn't worry about the rain as they are fairly waterproof... I wouldn't leave it in the bath for long periods of time but a bit of rain is not going to do the case or the figures any harm.
The other thing is if you buy the aluminium case it is handy to ave a few cardboard cases too, as then you just swap out the trays you don't need - or swap between the aluminium case and the cardboard as and when.

They have a wax coating on the card so no worries from a drizzle, ESP if you carry it in a backpack or something, I boaught one for my move and it packed my minis well. I will be buying a few more.

Mine has been pretty good, a bit stretched from me sticking more stuff in it than its meant to hold, but I was using it and carrying it around several times a week at that point so it has a good deal of durability. I've never let it get wet either so I can't say how it will hold up in the rain. Though it doesn't really fit in a backpack very well, at least mine at any rate.
Overall I think its a pretty good value and will likely store more armies in a card case in the future even though I really do like the look of the aluminum.

I got a couple, I use them to lug my CSM and Eldar armies around. They are indeed quite durable. One of them got fairly drenched once, survived it just fine. Dogs sometimes really like licking the cases.

Dont like them at all, and the firm is a joke.
May as well just buy a cardboard box and some foam from elsewhere.

I use them - I have 12 or 13 card cases and I've never had a problem - they're very hard-wearing. They'll easily survive the odd shower, though I wouldn't drop them in the bath.
If you start using them, I'd recommend the backpack or Kaiser cases as well - they're carry bags that the card cases slot into, with pouches for dice, rulebooks, etc.
The combination of the card cases to store and a backpack/Kaiser to carry them is much more versatile than their aluminium cases.

You can buy trays seperately from the cases. I've got three actual cases (the most I'll ever need to carry at once) and switch the trays in and out as I need to.

Never had a problem with a company, but you're right that the product is essentially a card box and some foam.
However, buying carry-size box (maybe the sort they sell at the Post Office??) and 4" of miniature-cut foam for £23 isn't easy.
I guess you could do it with generic eggshell foam and the right size box, but that wouldn't be as useful as a mini-transport system...

Thanks for all the comments guys, I've gone for the Aluminium One in the End and have decided to maybe buy 1 or 2 Card Ones in the future to store my other armies and possibly swap trays when I want to take them to GW. You can never be doubtful of the Torrential Downpour in England, The other day my bag carrying my 40k got Drenched! Thankfully my folders/boxes covered my Codices!

I hate to comment after the decision, but did you take a look at the Kaiser One? I'd say the Kaiser One (which comes with a card case) and then expanding with 1 or 2 card cases in the future is a better purchase (pockets, just as waterproof, lighter, less hassle swapping army trays etc) and the same price as the Aluminium One. But the Aluminium One is still a good case with good value. Hope it all works out.

(Too late now, but...) The cardboard is very dense so it resists water for quite a while. Not forever, though, so it's good to go for the aluminium if you're going to be carrying it through the elements. That, or an appropriate backpack.
Some people seem to really have a hate on for the foam, but it protects your miniatures excellently. There seems to be a school of thought that soft foam in hard cases doesn't protect miniatures, but in all my clumsy adventures (and they are many, and clumsy) I've never had some much as a fracture or even slight deteriation of paint. So they can shove it, they're just edition warriors by another name.

Really? Huh, I've always had really good customer service from them. Even once when I screwed up my own order, they sorted things out quickly and with a friendly manner. Just goes to show, I guess. What happened in your case?

Basically the item shipped to me was not as described, I bought foam for a three tier GW case, and the ones they shipped did not fit at all.
I told them this and they assured me that it did fit, when it blatantly did not, i have a feeling they made a mistake and shipped the wrong size, but when i suggested this, i was told that it was me that may have been getting mixed up with different case sizes. This was definately not the case, and as it happens i have nearly all the different sized cases GW have ever made as far as i am aware, and it fit none of them.
Another thing that irratated me was that i left neutral feedback on ebay, nothing even that bad, just saying that i was not happy with the CS or the item, and it was removed !!
Just makes me wonder how much bad feedback they have removed, there is basically no point to feedback it seems if the seller can just get it removed.

Hmm, that is pretty poor, true enough. I can see why you wouldn't want to go back. Very off, removing non-positive customer reviews. I don't agree with that at all.

I originally bought 3, two for 40k, one for FOW. I love them. The cardboard might be annoying and not hardwaring, however buy an Alumimium case or one of the Kaiser Bags. I actually bought Cardboard and carried it in a large Plastic bag (John lewis bag) or a Sports Holdall, 12 months later my Wife bought me just the Black Carry bag for Xmas. A great product and alot more reasonable than Battlefront or others. It takes 2 Cardboard ones and all the books and pockets, hold dice, tape measures etc really good design and deep pockets. I spread my purchases but it is probably cheaper in the long run to buy a set. But I literally have a bookcase with my Cardboard Boxes on them, labelled, and I grab the relevant boxes for the System or event I am going to, stick it in the black carry bag. I'd say 8/10 overall, I don't lose stuff, I don't break stuff in transit, and it's one easy to carry bag, with everything in.

I prefer the cardboard boxes.
Combine them with a carrying bag (like the one in mwnciboo's post) and you have a great carry/storage system.
I can label up and easily stack the boxes to store my armies, and it's just a matter of pulling the correct box off the rack and bagging it up for the trip to the FLGS.
Cheap, Durable, Easy to organise.
What's not to love?

I use their stuff all of the time, the quality is excellent, the card is durable. I've had mine and the models within survive having my book case on it.
There is never a problem as to whether trays will work in a different case, as the whole system is designed to work with each of the products.
And i've never had any problems with customer service. Any product issues has always been sorted out really quickly within a few emails.
