Obama misses new budget deadline
By Erik Wasson - 07/16/12 12:05 PM ET
The Obama administration has missed another annual budget deadline, failing to send Congress a mid-session budget review before July 16.
The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) confirmed Monday that the deadline for the review, due every year on that date, was not met this year.
“There will be a mid-session review and timing is still being determined,” spokeswoman Moira Mack said.
Last year, OMB issued its mid-session review on Sept. 1.
The document is supposed to contain revised spending, tax collection and deficit numbers to update the February budget proposal.
Releasing documents late has become a regular event at OMB.
Obama this year released his 2013 budget past deadline for the third year in a row. Under the law, the budget is to be released on the first Monday in February, but came out on Feb. 13 this year.
The Obama administration also delayed the release of the budget last year, waiting until Feb. 14.
Republicans have linked the delays to the failure of Senate Democrats to pass a stand-alone budget for the last three years.
"This makes a more significant statement than the president’s recent speeches and interviews professing his vigilant stewardship of the nation," Senate Budget Committee Ranking Member Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) said Monady through his spokesman. "Combined with $5 trillion in debt accrued since 2009, and the refusal of his Senate majority to produce a budget for three years in the midst of crisis, it reveals a troubling detachment from the financial future of our Republic."
House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) pointed out that the mid-session review has never been delivered on time by Obama
“The Obama administration’s continued failure to meet the statutory deadline to report the midsession budget review is unacceptable for a government tumbling toward a debt crisis," he said.

If you are white, then yes you are European.
If you are talking about politically, then what on earth do you mean by your statement? Is Europe somehow "inferior" to America?
The Economist Intelligence Unit consistanly has heaps of European nations above America on the QOL index. You are less likely to raped in Romania, shot In Spain, Buggered in Britain or fingered in France.
Material well being, political stability and security, healthiness, family life, job security and gender equality are uniformly better in many European nations, but what, you are daft enough to think that everyone sits at home in Germany wishing they lived Stateside because you happen to hear "USA IS NUMBER 1" on TV alot?
Me and the missus lived in CA, we fethed off over here 3 years ago and spend less time at work, less time in traffic, and less money when we binge drink in the bars around town.
Exactly what is so "bad" about Europe? This type of gak I expect (very occasionally in California it must be said, but pretty commonly in Virginia) from lackwits when I am in a bar or something in the US, the stunned people who say to us "Why on earth would you move to Europe?!" or Mitt Romney for that matter "It could be worse.. you could be in France!" but not the seemingly educated denizens of the dakka OT forum.
Belgium has a dysfunctional government.. so what? Do you know how easy it is for my missus to answer the question "Why did you move to Europe?" the list she reels off is as long as her arm.
I don't hate the US, far from it, I like the place, but saying gak like the above, as if your nation is on some sort of pedestal that the rest of the world looks to for inspiration, is flat out delusion. People are ticking over quite nicely in most European nations, I doubt they enviously look at the US as a bastion of how to do gak right.
Although, I do admit a desire to have a machine gun in my garage.

We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

Hey since your agreeing the government is dysfunctional, would you care to admit that the republicans are equally responsible for it being that way?
Yep. Fire them all. Let God sort 'em out.

You vote them out. Of course, if you can't get enough people to agree with you that they aren't worth voting out of office, you may not have the support you think you do. I'd love to see the incumbency rate drop from their absurdly high levels, but I don't see it happening anytime soon.

Every time you see the lies posted by Fox News and other Right Wing Extremists, including the handful here on Dakkadakka, just remember that the FACTS show that Obama has spent less money than any president in decades.
Amidst all the cries of Barack Obama being the most prolific big government spender the nation has ever suffered, Marketwatch is reporting that our president has actually been tighter with a buck than any United States president since Dwight D. Eisenhower.
And here's another lie that is easily debunked:

I love statistics and how easily they can be manipulated. for instance. For instance, your chart assigns substantial spending increases to Bush, even though they were signed by Obama.
As importantly, what it doesn't show is deficits. By far the deficit is the scary factor as, in the real world, it builds your debt and can lead to whats called a liquidity event (aka insolvency). Deficits under the Obama administration are screamingly off the chart in absolute $ and as a percentage of GDP to anything outside of WWII.
Is that all Obama's fault? No freaking way. There's more than enough blame to go around.

Yes. We are better at multi-tasking as a nation:
America continues to excel at simultaneously waging needless global ass-kicking expeditions while it's own infrastructure, programs and institutions rot from within and at the same time propping up a corrupt political system that ensures that the majority of it's own people become poorer and unhealthier each elecion cycle.
All this complaining. And yet you guys voted for Obama, right? Who cares where he was born, how much money he spends or how long he lived in Indonesia? Really.....
I admit to being ignorant on Romney et al. Would he be any better than Obama? Or worse? You see, US politics just passes me by.

If that is real terms, then it is less than inflation (Obama's is, anyway).
If it is as a % of GDP, then it has increased 42 percentage points in the past 30 years. I find that very unlikely.
Don't suppose you have source on actual numbers?
