Just wanted to see how bad other were with the sale this time around. There is so many good games out there right now I went a little overboard.
Jul 23, 2012 $9.99 Fallout New Vegas Ultimate
Jul 21, 2012 $17.99 Arma II: Combined Operations (NA)
Jul 20, 2012 $12.49 Crusader Kings II DLC Combo
Jul 20, 2012 $12.48 Botanicula, Krater – Collectors Edition
Jul 19, 2012 $9.97 The Longest Journey, Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale, E.Y.E.: Divine Cybermancy
Jul 17, 2012 $37.47 Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Dear Esther, Batman 1 and 2 and Gotham City Impostors Bundle
Jul 15, 2012 $8.74 Mount & Blade: Complete
Grand total: $109.13 of awesome games
Reviews of games I have tryed so far...
Crusader Kings II: OMG epic. Unlike any strategy game I have played before. HBO mini series level of politican depth lasting across an entire dynasty of a monarch. I feel I have barely scratched the surface.
Recettear: Very fun anime game that you play as the item shop owner of a JRPG lol.
E.Y.E.: Very weird but very cool FPS, barely started it since I accidentally fired on a friendly and EVERYONE came after me lol.... lesson learned.
Amnesia: EFFING SCARY. Extremely immersive horror game that is bloody terrifying.
Dear Esther: I had a misconception of what this was going to be. Boring.
Mount and Blade Warband: Liquid crack, play at your own risk of any and all free time.

Unfortunately, I was a little underwhelmed this year too!
Last year I bought 5 or 6 games, this year 0. I ALMOST bought Arkham City but decided I preferred it on console due to the playstyle.

I spent about ~50-60 USD total. The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series and Modern Warfare 3 were the only major purchases, the other ones I got for less than five bucks each. Sadly, the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series is nowhere near as good as it was hyped out to be, but the MW3 single player was better than I expected.

I spent $60. Bought the DoW series pack because I hadn't picked up the DoWII expansions and DLC due to their prices and I've lost everything but my copy of Dark Crusade for the original.

Did not purchase a thing. Kind of proud of myself. As a friend of mine put it, "Steam is evil"...... "I makes you spend money in 5 dollar increments."

Didn't get that much this time, chiefly because I've already got so many games still left to finish. But ...
Red Orchestra 2 - because a recent game of Only War made me dig Valhallans, plus I've always held a slight fascination with WW2
ARMA II - chiefly due to some zombie mod people recommended, and it looked pretty hilarious and potentially awesome on Criken's youtube videos
Also, I have been gifted Dawn of War II, in spite of my vows of "not getting it until they release an SoB expansion" (read: never).
I retaliated by gifting Deus Ex: Human Revolution right back. I already owned that one, but since it was on sale and is an awesome game, I thought I could spread the love.

Spent only $10 AU on Solar 2 and Magicka: The Collection (or whatever it's called, lets just say Magicka and all DLC avalable on Steam)
Didn't get anything else as, a. I forgot and b. I wasn't bothered enough
Glad I didn't, coz if I did I probably wouldn't play them, Magicka is too god damn addicting!

Didn't spend a thing, the THQ bundle looked tempting but I just didn't care enough to want to buy it. My brother loves Company of Heroes and Dawn of War II was on there and I only have Retribution, but there just wasn't enough will to buy anything. I just don't like buying games online I guess.
I have to kind of agree with Matt though, I have a couple of free to play games that take up enough time for me to even try to make an excuse to buy another game. I bought Red Orchestra 2 when it came out and I still haven't put as many hours into it as I have into APB, and I think Skyrim is the only game I bought that has been played almost as much as TF2.

As is usually the case with the Summer Sale I either bought stuff that wasn't on sale at Christmas that I didn't want to pay full price for, games I had wanted to buy in the past but forgot about, or cheap crap that intrigued me enough to spend less than 5 USD.
To that end:
Arkham City
Saints Row the Third
Metro 2033
Pineapple Smash Crew
Post Apocalyptic Mayhem
Psychonauts
Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition
Trine 2
Zombie Driver
Space Marine

I've been relatively well behaved this year. I picked up Harleys Revenge for < £3. It was pretty fun, but rather short, I'm not sure I'd have been happy paying massively more than that for it, I'd be a bit miffed if it was its full original price.
I also picked up LA Noire. I haven't gotten round to trying it though.

As I dislike to spend more then 10€ on a game this sales are a good time for me. Got a lot and i am quite happy about it.
The most expensive was Max Payne 3 for 25€ because a friend talked me into buying it.
Deus Ex, Defcon, Dragon Age COmplete, Two Worlds Colelction and New Vegas inkl DLCs. SimCity4, Crusader Kings II, the total silly total war collection, even Civ 5 and AAAAAAaaaaaaAaaaAAa!. None more than 10€
Oh an the Space Marine DLCs that total rock for an 1€ each.

I got
Knights of the old Rebublic. (yet to be played.)
Red Faction: Guerilla. (If you love Just Cause 2 like me you will love this too, works with eyefinity too with a hex edit).
Legend of Grimrock (yet to be played)
Vampire the Masqueade: Bloodlines (kinda like deus ex oomie revolution but with vampires and havok boobies and short skirts)
|
Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.
If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in. |

I don't remember if the Steam version of Bloodlines comes modded - if it doesn't, get... something. At least the community patch that makes the game go from a brilliantly flawed and almost unplayable mess to one of my favorite games.
I recommend the Camarilla edition mod, personally.
