I recently got my hands on 2 different rogue trader dreadnoughts, and a space crusade dread.
I'm looking for advice on converting these bad boys and beyond some small stuff all ideas are still up in the air.

The space crusade dread is still on it's square base so one of the first things I'll need to decide is if I should cut it off of it and give it a round one.
The other things I'm looking for ideas about are stuff like battle damage, rusting, and conversions.

One of the few things I've started doing is adding copper wiring to one of the rogue trader dreadnoughts, pouring out of what will be a green stuff hole in the armor. I'll be connecting this to what would normally be the combat arm of a servitor to make it appear like the servitor is doing active repairs via mechadendrites, or monitoring the dread's systems.

Take a look at that - unfortunately the guy kinda stopped.

I wasn't a huge fan of the wooden stuff, so I did something different in my version, detailed over on Warseer

My biggest hurdle was the legs, I finally bashed some together out of odds and ends, and luckily mine's a Nurgle contemptor, so being rubbish doesn't matter much.

Your idea also sounds great, they generally look a little small and plain next to their modern counterparts (I was considering using mine as Terminators/Obliterators for a while) so anytghing that can add detail is a big boost.

Very jealous that you have a Crusade dread, by the way.

Proiteus has done some nice work with the old Space Crusade dreadnoughts in his P&M blog

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Well firstly, from what I've seen, the old Rogue Trader dreads can be made to look just fine with current dread arms, especially the gun arms. Secondly, it shouldn't be too hard to increase the leg length, in fact, if you get warjack parts this can be even easier, bashing 2 pair of legs into one longer pair works well, I did it with my daemon prince.
