Has anyone ever been "hazed by their hobby "
This one time, I was out with my girlfriend at the local shopping centre (where the local gw is) and my figure case just breaks open without warning and my stuff goes everywhere! I had to spend 10 minutes hurriedly packing "toy soldiers" into a plastic case. And here's the punch line...
My girlfriend had walked off like she didn't even KNOW ME! because she thought it embarrassed HER!!

I had this one time when I was crossing the road towards my local GW when I was 10 with my brand new marine army. The case broke open in the road, and all my models fell out. As if that wasn't bad enough, several cars proceeded to drive by over my models. They were going so fast that i had no choice but to get out of the way. Out of my initial 20 tactical marines, two captains and 5 scouts, only 5 tactical marines survived (they were the only ones that had fallen out of their foam tray when it landed, those that stayed in the foam tray got crushed under a car wheel), one of the captains and two scouts lost one or both of their arms. To make matters worse, some d-bags started to mock me on the other side of the road. It was the black day of my Marine army so as to speak.

Hehe I wasn't thinking i will post but it's a nice playfull first thread so here goes >.<
Back when I was much younger, I had gone into a GW for the second time after looking the day befor. I loved painting and the boys in my street where getting into it.
So I thaght I would go in and buy myself a farseer and was painting in the store as the manager teach me.
At one of those little tables where the chair are so close in a small store.
I had jump up to to go off to find my mother to show off what I had finish, and my skirt had catch between the chair I was on and the managers and yank it open pulling all the little hooks off.
I dropped my farseer as I had to Stop it falling :( I was not very happy for many reasons that day. But he did give me a free battle force...
Hello :p and wow typing on iPad sucks a bit lol.

Never been embarrassed by the hobby. The only person that has ever tried to make fun of it is a fan of Justin Beiber. Needless to say, he didn't succeed.

Its a tie between beeing tabled in the top of turn one, with me even getting a chance to do anything, or when I had Marbo table myself. Because he threw the demo back in the complete opposite direction I wanted him to. The worst part of it is that I also was going to win the game in which Marbo killed himself/all my guys.

Mine has to be a couple of years ago. My local GW happens to be in the small shopping centre located in the main train city line train station, so anyone coming into the city centre tends to get off the train here. I was in GW and my ex girlfriend just had to walk past, she notices me and decides she has to come in to cause a bit of grief. She then goes on to tell everyone about how I'd stayed up for two days straight painting my Daemon Prince (she called it something else, I can't remember what) and then cried uncontrollably for almost an hour after dropping it whilst moving it to my gaming table. Needless to say there was much embarrassment before she was asked to leave.

Varnish them. that will stop the paint from chipping. also, if you arent transporting them in a foam case, you can buy rare earth magnets, glue them to the bottoms of the bases and transport your army in a 13x9 cooking sheet (cheap and easy transport)

Thanks but its not the paint I get grief from, its the models themselves. Theyre super frail, so when I bike to my friends, arms tend to be lost. But thats what super glue is for!

Tch. At least they *had* girl friends!
For me: Back in 4e, I defeated a very nice guy because I had my hammerhead go Flat Out for an objective contest. Before the game, we'd gone back and forth over playing at 1500 or 1250 and I missed that he went with the lower points value. As we're packing up, I realize I'm 250 points over the agreed points limit. I told him, he said it was okay and smiled. The kicker: a 3rd party holds up the rules showing me that MultiTrackers allow for *shooting* like a Fast Vehicle, not Moving like one. The railhead was unable to Move Flat Out.
Nice opponent shrugs that off too and still shakes my hand.

My most embarrassing moment would be the time our local GW had their "birthday" (can't remember how old anymore), and asked for people to come dressed like their favourite character.
My friend got really into the costume making aspect.... I had to walk through the shopping centre next to a Tau Firewarrior....

I spent an entire day painting the "slave" model from the old Vect raider.
Put all my painting stuff on my car when I was leaving at night.
Pulled out of the lot and heard my box o' bits and all my paints and brushs fly off the roof and along the back window.
I quickly pulled over and got a flashlight out from the glovebox and run out into the street.
I was able to find everything... except the model I had spent like 7 hours painting.
People driving by were asking me what I was looking for.
"A model" I'd reply.
"What's it look like?"
"Blonde hair, blue bikini, chains around her wrists... fell off the top of my car."
They drove away quickly.
