So i recently purchased Ahriman and 2 squads of thousand sons because i am kind of obsessed with their fluff...
but i was wondering if i should use his already given powers and give telepathy to the sorcerer(s) or if i should give both the sorcerer(s) and Ahriman telepathy?
i think that his already given powers rock as warptime seems kind of ridiculous as do some of his other powers like gift of chaos iirc. but some of the telepathy powers seem really good as well such as invisibility or puppet master, plus the primaris power seems to blend pretty well with the thousand sons since it is S4 AP3 iirc.
what is it that dakka has been doing thus far or recommends doing.
also, sorry for all the iirc's, i am at work and dont have my rulebook with me
plus, i have the supplies to form either a mech guard list or MSU gunline IG list, but i think that the TS will probably synergize with the infantry better than with the mech as if i mech up, then all small arms fire around will be directed at TS

General question => General answer
I think new powers are, in general, better than old ones. Specifically for Arhiman, I would avoid pyromancy.

General answers are fine, and i agree, was definitely not going to use pyromancy, as it seems wasted with ahriman and 1k sons

Telepathy is mostly where it's at for Chaos, it seems. The basic power can be very stromg, especially if you spam it on multiple aspiring sorcerers and focus one of two enemy units.
Ahriman has a good chance of getting the power you want, and can cast a warp charge 2 power and a regular warp charge 1 in the same turn. Invisibility can be a huge asset if he is placed in a killy unit, and Hallucination can be used to troll key enemy models and units something fierce.
Puppet Master can also be very fun if it can reach units like lootas, Long Fangs, Fire Dragons...I'm not sure it works against vehicles, but if it does, hijacking enemy War Walker and Vendetta squadrons for a turn can be really great.

In Boxing matches, you actually get paid to take a dive and make the other guy look good.
In Warhammer 40K, you're expected to pay cash out of your pocket for the privilege of having Marines and IG trample all over your Xenos/Chaos. |

When we played, we could find nothing that would not prevent it from working on vehicles. Additionally, if you have multiple psykers with PM, there is nothing stopping you from possessing the same vehicle over and over again in the same turn.

Take arhiman, and both thousand son sorcerers with doom bolt and trade for telepathy powers.
You want puppet master, invisibility or hallucinate on your thousand son sorcerers, if you don't get it and what you roll won't help you in any situation with your enemy, trade for the primaris power, or trade for the primaris power if your facing a lot of TEQ.
Arhiman follows the same rules for what powers to take, and with three rolls instead of one, he's hopefully going to get something good.
I would suggest also getting a sorc in terminator armor, give him a familliar and purchase three powers, so he can get three rolls as well. Always purchase the cheapest powers.

wait, you have to purchase a power for the sorcerers, you cant just take one? i might have missed that in the faq or rules but dont remember seeing that, i was thinking i could just take the ones from the book for free, but it does make sense if you have to pay for something. thx for the headsup though, it would be better if i dont screw up my list when i play my first game.

Irc the sorcerer HAS to buy a single power from the undivided ones or BoC and can then swap it out against one from the rulebook.. So you are best served buying doombolt as it's the cheapest one.

Playing mostly Necromunda and Battletech, Malifaux is awesome too! |

Yes you have to trade for powers you already bought, and aspiring sorcerers must buy a power, just buy doombolt for them and if you take a sorcerer, buy the three cheapest and a familliar.
And if people complain that you bought the cheapest power for your aspiring sorcerer, ask them how much a sargent of theirs costs, then tell them how much the base price of an aspiring sorcerer is. Should shut them up.

you can use it on a vehicle, it doesnt get a deny the witch roll either
I am not sure if it would work on a squadron of warwalkers though.

Where are you getting that vehicles don't get DTW? Automatically Appended Next Post: juraigamer wrote:Yes you have to trade for powers you already bought, and aspiring sorcerers must buy a power, just buy doombolt for them and if you take a sorcerer, buy the three cheapest and a familliar.

Hi, my genestealer sergeant costs 60 points, has no ranged weapon, bs0, a 4+ save, and no power weapon. Despite this, in this edition it's supposedly somehow still much better than the unit it travels with.

You're not required to buy the broodlord. Thousand sons are required to pay for an aspiring sorcerer. Big difference.
