In 6th Edition you can now throw grenades.... 1 per squad or each in assault. Now I know that you can not assault a flyer but my question is, can you chuck a grenade at a flyer if it is within 8".... I would assume you would need a 6 to hit, but is this a legal thing to do? I did not see that you could not, but if it is in the BRB please let me know what page it is not. Thanks for the views and posts... Cheers

Only if it's not a blast and has a profile that allows for a ranged attack, so krak missiles only, I believe.

Sorry, meant krak grenades.

But yeah, haywires work too.

so why can't the "auto hits" work against fliers? I've heard that before but where is that written?

because you can't snap fire them, check your snap fire rules.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

Because under the flyer rules the can only be hit by snap shots when shooting at them.

You can't snapshot if you can't use BS on the shot.

Autohits don't use BS.

Yeah, because a single shot that could hit on a 6 and glance on a 4 would be awesome?
I'll gladely let any tau player take pot shots at my flyers with the EMP; it might keep you from doing something more productive with that unit.

I've taken down fliers with thrown Haywire before, and killed the flier, the entire unit inside and the dread hanging on the back

It was pretty productive

That said, haywire glances on a 2+

It may not be effective most of the time, but when it pays off it sometimes pays off big.

Is EMP only a 4+ glance? That's pretty sad ..

I hope in the new Eldar Codex, the Intercept power for Swooping Hawks Exarchs allows you to assault flyers. that would make SH a lot more viable again.... We will have to wait and see.

That would not make them viable, that would make the awesome. The visual in my mind is enough to let them do it now if I played an army with flyers.

Slightly off-topic, there is an Apoc formation (Baharroth's Tempest) that allows you to assault a Flyer.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Link it. This seems very cool. Was it a 6th 'Ed update or for the Apoc Flyers?

It's Apocalypse Reload page 32. Basically it's Baharroth, and 3+ squads of Swooping Hawks with Exarch and both powers. The formation can be moved into base contact with a flyer (within range) and anyone who wishes to attach a Haywire Grenade can but must pass an Initiative test or suffer a Wound with no save.

The new books actually stamp specifically what is kosher in regular 40k games and what is APOC

Some towns and gaming stores are okay with IA and Forgeworld
Some are very anti, but my thoughts on it is not that it is too OP, its that Forgeworld does not sell through distributers
