The spaniards never really grokked the whole inch thing. The English rulebook still has the movement table in cm (but it says inches. Bikes are listed as 20-15, for example. I wish).
I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

I can't wait to see the advancement rules for the Spec Ops guys and more units for the Tohaa. The basic troops aren't grabbing me (they rarely do) but the PA-trooper is looking spiffy.
But until I see the rules I don't know if I will spring for them ahead of starting up a Haqq force.

I'm very excited about the spec ops guys. I'm wondering what it's going to be for the CA. Shasvastii? Morat? None of the above? It would be cool if it's an aspect of the EI. No matter it's pretty cool that, if it's right, you can ad experience to your that figure in a campaign.
It would be cool if the CA got one of the founders and creators of the EI as a spec ops. What were they called again?
I've always wondered what they lool like.

On the other hand I'm torn between them say, including loads of bits for customisation so you can choose loads of different options, but at the same time I would be wary of the price tag.
Like GW's idea previously with the warboss/boar models etc. where they are bloody expensive (not sure if that is the case now). Yes they have loads of bits, but ultimately you can only make a single model from it.

You can always use the bits to customize your other models, though.I'd like to have a replacement head for the upcoming Cordelia.

With GW, you always have the customization. I wouldn't care so much regarding the price tag. I'd pay an extra pound for another weapon to put on my other troops.

I'm getting the feeling they won't have any sculpted on weapons at all - the head swaps are easy enough, but considering there's 4 weapon slots which at least 2 can be selected at the same time, I think these will be weaponless models that you show your opponent the sheet for before the game.
It removes the old issue mentioned by PsychoticStorm of having static poses to make weapon swaps easier, and also, well, the necessity to snap weapons off these beautiful figures between games.
It's an annoying issue - some people want models to be as WYSIWIG as possible, and in a campaign system where a model is constantly getting new weapons and gadgets as it levels up, you're breaking it apart regularly to put new stuff on, or if you want to simply swap weapons to change its role. So you have either a static model in an uninspiring pose that doesn't fit any of the weapons, a lot of dynamically posed variants, or simply weaponless models which you basically play as 'counts as' for their loadout.

Some pics of the new spec ops minis from an event in Europe. Notice how the mini on the far left and the mini on the far right are the same with swapped heads and weapons. The two inside minis are also the same with swapped heads...

So yup. They will have weapons. Now I have no idea what options the Spec Ops can start out with but it's possible you have a few basic weapon options available in the box/blister, like a combi rifle, rifle, pistol and knife etc so you can represent these starting weapons and then you'll have to imagine everything else that get's added on as the campaign progresses.

well from the screens so far all spec ops must start with a pistol, knife and combi rifle and one ability and can get with XP 3 more weapons 3 more abilities and 3 more equipment, plus stats changes.

I definitely like the Ariadna head with a gas mask over the hooded one. But..if they all come with extra heads, I can see some other uses for them...
New Tohaa...
Personally I see 1, 3, and 6 as Light Infantry. Number 6 is a little different, but she is also female compared to the other two LI. Assuming basic Combi Rifle or similar for stats. (CA use Combis too so why not)
Number 2 I see as a Medium Infantry, perhaps armed with a Spitfire or MK12 equivalent.
Number 4 is easily a HI, armed with what would likely be a DA or APCCW and the same gun as Number 2, so spitfire or MK12 equivalent.
Number 5 is the toss up. Likely some kind of skirmisher, armed with the same weapon as the LI, so likely a Combi Rifle, I'm guessing a standard Camo or Mimetism and perhaps a Minelayer.
All in all, just my opinions. I doubt CB would go and create brand new weapons for each type, yes some new ones are likely, but Combi Rifles are used by Humans and Combined Army, so why muddy the ruleset?
Anyway, looks like the making of a very nice Starter box, though still not 100% sure on the heads/faces, I like the helmets, but not sure of the faces.
If they have been fighting the CA, I doubt they have Cubes, maybe something like the Nomads do for backing up a mind prior to mission.
Perhaps good BTS stats too if CA has been their primary foe.

I would expect the Spec Ops will come in around $16, based on Thewarstore pricing/discount.
More than a single figure, but at the same time you don't "need" more than one. Extra bits will be nice for conversions with other miniatures. In my opinion anyway.

@Psychotic Storm: I'm not sure they'd all have Combi rifles. I'd expect them all to have their faction "defaults", so the Haqqislam Spec-Ops would probably have a Rifle+Light Shotgun, and the Ariadnan one a regular rifle.
Mercs at the moment do not really exist as a faction, they will first have to have an official tournament legal list and then we can hope for other things like sectorials and spec ops.
I am a firm supporter of Mercenaries loosing the mercenary availability rules of the rulebook and be elevated as a normal faction made only by troops with mercenary availability.
And for a twist recruiting normal troops with AVA halved as mercenaries (not tournament legal).

Indeed, consider it an error generated from speed.
