They are not force weapons or power weapons for that matter. They are close combat biomorphs. Currently until a FAQ comes out, they still would ignore armor.

For every unsaved wound a bonesword casuse that model takes a LD test if failed its ID, if a model has duel boneswords then its 3d6 LD test.

They are just a CCW against vehicles, as they have no actual AP value.

Bone swords and sabers are not CC weapons at all. They just add special rules to attacks. So if useded by a MC or FMC they are AP2. If not thy are AP.-

I don't have my codex in front of me, but I remember reading the other day that the Swarmlords bonesabres don't actually ignore armor. That wouldn't be a problem, except MC's need to smash now to get their AP attacks? Did I just read that wrong?

The Bonesabres never did ignore armor themselves. They ignored armor because the Swarmlord was a MC. They are now AP2 because MCs have Smash. You do not have to do a Smash attack to get the AP2.

I don't believe that's true, the wording from the dex says 'No armour saves may be taken against wounds inflicted in close combat by a Tyranid with a bonesword.'
This actually makes it pretty nice, since it works with non MCs with boneswords, like the warriors or Tyranid prime. They aren't MCs, and thus don't have the AP2 conferred by the smash ability, but if you give them a boneswords they will stil ignore armor saves against even 2+ opponents with the sabers.

smokeh, if you read the rules for bonesabres (not boneswords) they do not ignore armour saves.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Yep, sorry, forgot sabers and sword were different. But yeah, ap 2 anyway due to smash, so effectively the same concept.

But importantly the Swarmlord, and all other MCs, will get +1 on the vehicle damage chart.

The only paragraph of relevance in the rule book still confused me a bit, I'm looking at the section in close-combat weapons entitled;
Unusual power weapons
Many models have unusual power weapons (boneswords?) that have one or more unique rules. If a power weapon has its own unique close combat rules, treat it as ap3 melee weapon with the additional rules and characteristics presented in its entry.
Any help?
Also looked at the index of weapons, chainswords are there, but no boneswords... its all very confusing.

what would make a bonesword a power weapon, it's not even a weapon in the first place, it just gives special rules to models.

Yeah, it just makes the creature ignore armor saves and each wound caused requires a Ld test or suffer ID.

Boneswords have to say they ignore armor because only non-MC can take a Bonesword. Bone Sabres are only taken by a MC so it doesn't have to say they ignore armor since MC are AP2.

Can't Tyrants take boneswords?
Only the Swarmlord has Bonesabres IIRC.

Good point, the Hive Tyrant does have a Bonesword. Ok, most units who can take Boneswords are not MC...

Boneswords may not be a listed power weapon, but it is of course a weapon. Its listed under tyranid close-combat weapons, not biomorphs. It doesn't just add special rules to a model, it does qualify as a weapon and the weapon has the rules, not the model.

Read the codex again really carefully, and you'll see the rules say a model armed with (insert CC biomorph here) has (insert effect here) added to it's attacks. All other weapons from other codex(i) specify that their effects apply when the model is using it.

Half right, as with a weapon you'd have to choose which one you'd use to determine which benefits you get. With Tyranid close combat weapons, you gain the benefit of all 'equipped' weapons, but you can never claim extra attacks for being armed with more than one close combat weapon.

It was not FAQ'd to be a power weapon. Unusual power weapon says if it has additional rules after power weapon. They ignore Armour saves but for vehicles i think AP - .
honestly I am thankful, it would have been really hard to get AP2. Others can get a lot of it from shooting.
