The corruption is likely to be due to 1.70.

Before. But the server will still be running 1.7_01. I'm gonna hold off on rolling back just yet, as the crash is a Java crash, not a Minecraft crash. So I need to get ahold of Lego and discuss it with him.

Its not that I don't want to lose pistons, I realised that it would still be on 1.7.01.
It is that I didn't want to lose the first pistons and shears we made for the museum.

Remake the first piston then, it will be totally indistinguishable from the previous one.

Out of interest does anyone know if anything unusual was being made at the point it first crashed? (When corpses said "gotta love goblins")

Several pistons had already been made and used so I don't think it's a standard piston that's crashed. The "fixed" piston crash was supposed to be if you tried to push a rose with a piston. Anyone trying to have two pistons face each other and push into each other? :-P

I suppose, but that isn't the point... It was supposed to be the first ever pistons.

It isn't for actualy usage, but for a display of the first and last in the dakka server museum.
We will have lost the first shears, and the last wool without shears too...

No idea, you could PM all the people who were on the server at the time though.

Notch says 1.7.2 tomorrow. Want to wait for that one to see if it fixes it, or rollback the world 6 hours?

I say wait. Alot has been done since 1.7 came out, and it would be a shame to lose it.
I don't know what the others think, but I for one can go without minecraft for one evening.

I say wait. Rolling back should be a last resort, and since there's another patch coming out tomorrow then there's a chance that we might not need to roll back at all.

BTW, what exactly has happened?

If part of the map is corrupt we will need a rollback to remove the corruption as updating to 1.72 would just prevent the corruption coming back.

Plus I have nothing else to do tonight

That is an 'if' though. I don't think we can do a roll back off a hunch when there's an equally good chance of it being wrong.

Agreed. If 1.7.2 doesn't fix it, then a roll back may be the only option. I would like to avoid it at all costs though.



Dark, I don't suppose it is possible to change just one part of the map back to how it was. (I doubt this is possible but it is worth asking.)

Searching for solutions to the crash leads to most people recovering a backup of their world. Well we have a backup of the world in its current state and before 1.7.

I'll swap the world out with the backup, test it and if all's well, we'll go with the rollback. If it does this same crash again before the update, then I'll wait for the update and try the backup from an hour ago.

So, there is a possibility of no roll back?

Nope.

Yes, we turned shrikes old house into the museum, did some work on the clubhouse near vinnies, made some pistons ect

Ok, a roll back to 6/7pm is better though.

Im not upgrading until 1.8. Just seems like a minor update and to be fair, the only thing I would upgrade for is the new Cobblestone texture which I could easily just swap with the previous one. Pistons dont really seem to motivate me to update. I would rather have Cauldrons, Anchors, Windmills and Marijuana farms than pistons that I am not capable of controlling, redstone is confusing.

I would love to see the stuff from millinare (Spelling) and Better than Wolves in the main game.

I dont think they should add Millenaire, but rather npc's like in Terraria but yes, Better than Wolves should be implemented into the vanilla game.
