Ok so I am planning the commander of my Tau army & have decided to use a FW model but i cant deceide which would be the most effective choice:

http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Tau/TAU-BATTLESUITS-AND-DRONES/XV81-CRISIS-BATTLESUIT.html

or

http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Tau/TAU-BATTLESUITS-AND-DRONES/XV84-CRISIS-BATTLESUIT.html

Either would have a Fusion Blaster & Burst cannon.

Ideally would also inc a drone controller w/ either a shield & gun or 2 shield drones.

Any suggestions?? This model will be what i aim to plan my army around.

David

Defiantly go for the xv 84, though I suggest fusion plasma as his weapons.

I would suggest the 81 actually although the launchers could be better.

I am leaning towards the XV81 but how does this sound:

XV81

Shoulder mounted missile pod (long range covered)
Plasma rifle (mid range covered)
Fusion blaster (tank killer)

add in war gear of hardwired drone controller and 2 shield drones

(maybe a bonding knife on the chance add to a unit now & then?)

Would give me a good all round (and with the marker lights ) a not to be messed with command unit.

Or am i completely wrong??

I think xv81 looks cooler.

Would a crisis suit with one of these heads work??

Thinking of using one of these heads on the crisi suit to have a start to a all female army list??

Figure why not?? be something a bit diffrent!

I dont think the suits have hads that the pilots wear. I think they are inside the chest.

I wasnt sure, looking at the mondels on both GW & FW the heads have what appear to be eyes??

Was thinking Shadow Sun stlye model but actually useful!

Will have to buy all the parts & see what it would like like. If not can always use the heads on the fire warriors etc.

Tau battlesuit pilots are enclosed within the torso.
The head does NOT contain their head (that would be stupid) but is JUST where the primary sensors are.

Nothing in 40k is to scale with anything else - that's how the infantry can fit inside stuff. Because nothing is representative of actual scale. If it was, then IG would be shorter than marines, marine vehicles would be larger (Rhino=land raider hull, Land Raider=baneblade hull) and table size would be 12"x8" (yeah, good luck reaching that stuff in the middle unless you are an orang-utan.).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
