Subject: Will you play World of Warcraft : Mists of Pandera
I don't think its the new expansion, I think things just get old, or I did.
I was well into the game for a few years when it first came out and played for a few hours a day when I was on leave.
It tailed off at Cataclysm, I think its just getting dull because essentially I've been playing the same game for 6 years. I dropped the game about a year ago, and played a month long sub here and there the last 12 months.
So, ive no motivation for the £35 expansion with the pokemon and the Pandas.
I think its a culmination of general boredom, getting older and not enjoying video games as much, and realising how much I have got done the months I don't play wow..
But I have to say, TBC was excellent, so I do think the content has something to do with it, this Panda gak looks like its aimed at 8 year olds.

I stopped playing a bit after Cataclysm. The only thing I miss is the Auction House. The only reason I'd reup is if someone wanted to buy my gold. lol

I quit right around when Cataclysm came out. I had hard-raided since the Vanilla days of Molten Core (3-4 nights a week, 4+ hours a night) and I had finally burned out completely. The Wrath raid model of the same raid for 10 and 25 man, plus norma/heroic modes accelerated the burnout since I was doing the same damn fights at all times.
I got bored with WoW years ago and nothing in the expansion looks anywhere near interesting enough to bring me back (quite the reverse in fact).

Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

Let me allow this peculiar robot to explain my initial response to this thread's poll question.
The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

Well since they locked my account and now will not unlock it without me providing a photo ID to prove who I am, No... Blizzard does nothing to deserve my support.
Of all the races of the universe the Squats have the longest memories and the shortest tempers. They are uncouth, unpredictably violent, and frequently drunk. Overall, I'm glad they're on our side!

Not even sure why there is a 'GW took my money' option in the poll anyways.

I played it in beta and when it first came out.. till the tail end of burning crusade then I quit, went back to check out the other expansions but I just don't have any interest in the pandas at all.
WOW is just too much of a life sink, I can't play that while still trying to have other hobbies and/or a girlfriend.

Yup, Annual Subscription, been playing pretty much solidly since TBC, apart from the occasional break, although I've pretty much kept my sub up regardless. The Pokemon aspect will give me somewhere to focus my efforts well into the next expansion.
I have already been selected as the Pokemon guy for guild events.
Will also be trying Guild Wars 2, but as I've already brought it, I'll see that as akin to my xbox games, as in I'll play as if and when.

Nope. Played vanilla a lot, quit for reasons lost to time, came back at the beginning of Cataclysm, quit again because my guild fell apart, started playing again last April and "beat" the game by mid-May. OK, hadn't done everything, but did 6/7 Heroic Firelands and a killed a couple of bosses in Heroic Dragon Soul. Quit because:
1.) Dragon Soul fething blows and it was pretty much the only relevant content left in the game.
2.) Blizzard's glacially slow update pace. Means that basically, unless it was Dragon Soul night, I had nothing to do. Nothing fun, anyway. PvP in WoW is awful and everything else (crafting, faction grinds, achievements) is about as fun as watching paint dry. Levelling alts is also boring since the levelling content is dreadfully uninteresting. So basically I'd log in to run Dragon Soul for two or three hours on Sunday, and then not log in for the rest of the week.
If I'm paying $15/month for a game, it has to provide me with more than 3 hours a week of entertainment, which WoW did not. If Blizzard picks up the pace of content updates with MoP, then maybe it'll be worth looking into, but I'm already pretty heavily invested in The Secret World. It certainly doesn't have to always be raids; 5-mans, these newfangled scenarios they're talking about, even finding a way to make levelling more interesting (give it a cohesive and interesting plot, make our characters a bit more hero and a lot less "errand boy"), etc. But holy hell, man, more often!
With that said, if you happen to like achievements and collecting stuff, this looks like it'll be a great expansion for you.

No, I will not be playing WoW. It has tired itself out and I assume it will continue its downward spiral and eventually crash in the next few years.
The graphics are outdated, the mechanics are outdated - I need a new game. I'll be content with GW2 and PS2 for my MMO playing.
Though, I doubt they really care about my opinion with their 9 million subscribers. That is still about 18 times what most MMO's try to keep at a stable rate.

I almost wish I could. But honestly, the game has just gotten too easy for my tastes. While I won't say that I miss the days where getting into an unwanted combat with any class was practically a death sentence in solo play, especially at low levels, the fact that every class is soloable without any sort of effort makes me a bit sad. I liked the challenge of playing some of the classes that were tougher to play solo. WoW has just become too boring now.
Plus, as much fun as it was when I was a jobless high school student, it's just too much strain to try and play for any meaningful amount of time as an employed college student. My only realistic playstyle is single-player (just not enough time for Raiding, and I don't like PvP games in general), and if I want to do that, I'm better off playing any one of the couple hundred games I have on Steam. I've still got my year-subscription going on (I took it because at the time I was playing WoW frequently enough to justify it, and I wasn't planning on actually buying D3), but once that closes out, that's the end for me.

I lost interest in the run up to cataclysm. OK, I had gone from unemployed and able to spend 10+ hours a day on it to employed with a 1hour+ journey each way, so was not really able to devote the time to it that I would have required to keep 4+ L80 characters running.
But what shoved me away was
A) the complete nerf they did to the Hunter. All of a sudden there were no decently trained hunters starting out, all of them were 'Huntards' who would not check their range before firing, couldn't keep a beast at range, and got out their little axe and started hitting it on the head in melee.
I feel sorry for groups who end up with huntards who can't kite and rely on their new pet from level 1 to keep them out of trouble.
and
B) the 'Kung-Fu Pqanda' stuff that felt like they were pandering to the 6 year-olds. As a mature player, that and the 'Pokemon' pet battles seemd like they were hopping on the bandwagon and trying to tempt little kids.
Oh, and I suppose I ought to mention that now, over a year after I stopped my sub, I have no internet access and so couldn't start up again even if I wanted to.

No thanks. I am done with that game. Pandas? Really?
I played pretty steady from Vanilla until about halfway through Cat. PvPd a ton. Did a lot of raiding. Cataclysm killed it for me though. Just nothing to do.
SWToR had the same effect on me. I think that model of MMO is dead to me.
I need a different MMO fix. Is The Secret World any good? Has anybody checked it out? Anybody heard about the Pathfinder MMO?

Most people aren't children and don't hold an irrational hate towards something like a videogame.
Actually, it's not irrational. Unlike the majority of the internet, I try to give things a fair shake before making judgement. So, if I express dislike(or "hate" as everyone likes to throw around), it's because I've tried it and come to that conclusion instead of stating it on a snap judgement.
I've played WoW before and for a pretty decent amount of time. In fact, I created an account, cancelled it after about 6-7 months, and re-opened it twice all to play with 3 different groups of friends. Every single time, I've been bored to tears by the game play and frustrated by the lack of balance and things that changed from patch to patch.
So, as an experienced WoW player, feth Wow.

Well yes, but it's been what, half a decade since it tired itself out? More than that?
Then again, seeing as it was already tired out on release...

Popular does not equate to good, well done, or anything like that.
Michael Bay movies, Twilight, Ayn Rand, and 50 Shades of Grey proves that.

You don't achieve 10 million subscribers (5 to 10x the amount of your closest competitor) and draw in people who have never played an MMO or RPG without doing something right.

Honestly, it's mostly marketing, basing it on an established and popular franchise, and making it the most easily accessible and easy to play MMO on the market.
To bring the analogy back, if you look at the fan and average internet movie goer reactions to Bay's Transformers movies, you'd think it was the worst thing ever, but the actual sales and box office numbers tell a very different story.
