As per title really, TL auto cannon x2 dread, see these in a lot of tourny loadouts, or preds with autocannon and las cannon sponsers? pretty much same in game cost

Terminators with deepstrike, either assault or vanilla or Sternguard with all those combi weapons, again with combi weapons and drop pod just under the cost of a terminator squad

And storm talons, loadout I like the sound of is TL assault cannons and typhoon missile launchers, i was going to use skyhammer but then relised typhoons have 12" less range but 1 better strength 1 better AP but heavy 2 instead of heavy 3 whats going to be best for killing other flyers and general support?

Thanks!

People run the dreads for the ability to move and fire easily. The preds are good, but prone to losing shots due to having to move to get good angles.

If you need and can support sterngard with combi weapons without dropping them alone, they work very well. Assault termies are good for dealing with all targets but they can't on the turn they arrive.

Personally, I suggest the lascannon on the storm talons. That extra strength and ap helps quite a bit. True, the typhoon has an extra shot, but it's not twin linked like the las cannon. If you want anti-tank support, lascannon is your best bet. It's also cheaper.

In 5th the dreads were simply the better choice.
But in 6th edition, with the changes to hull points, the predators are much more durable. Every point of armor means you resist a lot more hits.

In 6th edition, I would go with 2 bare bones predators over a dread. You lose the TL shooting, but gain a lot more durability.

The twin linked dread autocannons are quite handy versus fliers, get some decent overwatch and get 33% more firepower over all.

Two naked preds are vastly more durable, although you really want the double FOC.

In the end I went for both for a tourny list 2 dreads with 3 preds, plus 3 storm talon for anti air,

Wasnt planning on buying any sternguard but I might proxy them in a game and try them out

I prefer the Rifleman Dreads to AC/LC Preds. They're more mobile, and you get more full BS shooting when it's moving around. Dakka Preds are pretty good though (AC/HB) because you can put out a lot of shots, so snap-fire when you move isn't as devastating to your shot output. And they're cheaper, and better against heavy infantry/light armor.

TH/SS Termies are better than Tactical Termies, but only of they're rolling out of a LR. Tacticals with Lysander are alright because all their SB are TL, and he adds survivability to the squad, but even then they're not great. I prefer Sternguard to both in 6th so far. Combined with Lysander, all their Special Issue Ammo is TL. Combined with Vulkan, all their combi meltas, combi flamers and heavy flamers are TL. Either option is great. And then they're flexible too. Good in a rhino firing SIA and combi weapons out of the fire points, and good in a drop pod to get specialized shooting wherever you need it. And with the changes to rapid fire, their special ammo got even better.

Cheers, hope that helps!
