I have starting running a Nurgle Daemon prince with wings in my 1500 point all nurgle list. He will all too often jump ahead first turn 12" and then easily get shot down by a space marine tactical squad even with toughness 6 and 4 wounds. His 3 up save and 5 up inval just isnt enough. I cant stick him in a land raider and i cant put him with a squad because my terminators are in the landraider and he goes 12" while they go 6". I have considered just not taking him but with new 6th edition flying monstrous creature rules its hard not to. I really need a new strategy for him not to get destroyed first or second turn. please help dakka

Assuming the rest of your list is fairly static, then yes. Having a single FMC swoop ahead of the rest of your army will lead to him being killed.
That's why you're better off with 5 of them and Fateweaver

Um, CSM demon princes can't fly, they always count as jump infantry.

A demon prince is basically a huge target, best to hide him in a ruin and try to sneak around the board, he doesn't need to attack immediately, he just needs to stay alive.

Why does everyone on dakka assume chaos=chaos space marines?

Deamons have their very own codex you know...

I give my winged DP's a 5 man raptor squad as a shield against charges and tend to either run them behind a rhino/vehicle, or keep hopping behind terrain.

If you are jumping him in the open in front of the enemy then of course you are going to get creamed.

You could keep him behind the land raider. It totally blocks LOS to a prince unless you modelled him for disadvantage.

yes but hes flying so hes above the lr so that wouldnt work and it wouldnt block los

How the heck are you dying with toughness 6, a bolter needs a 6 to wound.. lol.. i use two Nurgle princes and Ive only ever lost one in a game. They are very easy to hide behind cover, and they slaughter the toughest of foes in close combat..? you must be using him oddly.

I'm pretty sure the model itself does not count as flying so unless you modeled it as being 6 inches off the table it would get cover behind a LR just like any other MC of comparable size...

Normally I'd disagree with something like this, but the toughness six on my lord has saved him from being taken down so many times. it's usually just heavy firepower that downs him in the end. Usually hugging terrain with the prince, or bringing the rest of your army up a flank that makes the enemy pick one or the other will work (depending on the speed of their army too) but the best advice is hugging any and all terrain out of LOS and wait til the rest of your army can make a big enough threat somewhere else.

I didn't assume, hell I play demons. The op posted about not being able to put the DP with terminators or in a landraider... which means he plays CSM.

Take allies? 2 out of 5 ain't bad.
Fateweaver is like phenomenal out of 5.
And all for as cheap as nurglings.

Eternal Plague

Take CSM and CD and use the DP as a heavy support slot CD Daemon Prince that can fly.

Problem solved.

However, they don't count as "flying", they count as jump troops (not sure of the exact classification, but the same one as any troops with jump packs).

Edit: This is in codex CSM, in codex CD they count as "flying" from what I remember.

I dont have the faqs with me but Im sure that SilverMK2 and juraigamer are correct. The faq said that CSM DP are jump whilst CD DP are flying.

Just re-read it.

Replace this entry with "Models equiped with wings add 'jump' to their unit type."
