Hello all,
I was thinking of buying the Dark Angels battlebox for all the bike-y goodness and using them for my Blood Ravens army. I assume that the bike comes with that wing on the back of the bike? I was thinking that it could fit in with the whole "Raven" thing if I just file down the eagle beak to look like a raven beak (file the ridge on top into a curve) and paint the wings black (and highlight it with a dark blue or purple to give it that organic feather feel... and I don't mean organic like a no good dirty dread locked hippy...). Thoughts?

The winged part on the front near the bolters and the banner on the back are all optional bits. You can buy the DA ravenwing battleforce and assemble them like normal marines.
From there, you will have tons of bits for conversions. Yes your idea can work.

That's precisely what I'm planning on doing with the starter set.

The starter set won't have optional front plates; just the ones you see in the photos. I don't think it's too chapter-specific looking though. Just file off the Ravenwing insignias and leave off the back feathers and you'll be good.

Ugh I'm driving myself crazy. I want to play all of the chapters! Dark Angels are going to be super popular pretty soon though, I bet... and I can't help but try to be different (which drives myself crazy). I love the fluff of the dark angels & the blood ravens. I also have a BA and Chaos lol!
As far as double dipping cost / paintjobs, I'm pretty sure that I will not be running the same units in BA as I would for vanilla (and most certainly not DA). There would be some overlap in vanilla and DA, however...

My Blood Ravens army is currently using models from forgeworld Raven Guard, Dark Angels, with the majority of it being based on Blood Angels models.
I'm using them as both codex marines or BA, depending on how fighty I'm feeling a particular day.

The Dark Angels battleforce does come with nonwinged front plates. I was talking to a guy at GW as he opened his battleforce and he didnt want the nonwinged ones so he gave to me.
