In Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, you are unlikely heroes in a grim world of perilous adventure. You venture into the dark corners of the Empire and deal with the threats that others cannot or will not face. You’ll probably die alone in some festering hellhole, but maybe, just maybe, you’ll survive foul Mutants, horrible diseases, insidious plots, and sanity-blasting rituals to reap Fate’s rewards.

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay is a complete game. All you need to play is in this book, some dice, and a group of friends.

Inside these covers you’ll find:

A quick system for character creation. You can make a character in less than half an hour and jump right into the game.
A simple yet robust set of rules that let you handle everything from social interaction to Chaos mutations.
A unique career-based system of character advancement and over 100 careers – from Assassin and Bone Picker to Troll Slayer and Zealot.
Complete rules for magic, cover both Arcane and Divine Orders and over 175 spells. Power can be had, but beware Tzeentch’s Curse!
Details on the Empire and the Old World, from the social order to religion and belief.
A complete introductory adventure, Through the Drakwald.
A new short story by renowned Gaunt’s Ghosts author Dan Abnett.

The Warhammer Fantasy Role 2nd Edition Core Rulebook is now available in Print on Demand at RPGNow.com!

Also available now in Print on Demand formats from Fantasy Flight Games:

Tome of Corruption – This expansive volume reveals all of the secrets of Chaos, exploring it in lavish detail. From the countless verieties of Mutants and Chaos Spawn, to the Beastmen that haunt the unclaimed depths of the Forest of Shadows and the Drakwald, to the horrific Daemons spawned from nightmare, this sourcebook contains everything you ever wanted to know about Chaos in all its disturbing forms.

Career Compendium – The Career Compendium is designed as the ultimate, comprehensive career reference for both players and Game Masters, and explores the many different paths heroes may take during their adventures

which is surprising, in a nice way.

I snapped up all the 2nd edition books as they were released, loved this system, a worthy successor to the formidable 1st edition of which I have many fond memories indeed.

Bit of luck maybe they'll reprint some of the other OOP books too ? I've seen some of them go for dirty money on ebay and the like.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

Not just a reprint, but in actual dead tree format? I am happy now.

Well that is surprising - and a good surprise as well. There probably won't be any support for the game (fair enough - they have their own version of the game to develop), but this is a nice change from what game companies usually do when a new addition comes out: disavow all knowledge and pretend it never happened!

Plus (and I know I'm getting way ahead of myself here) they might even try to swing is so the Saga Edition SWRPG lives on with FFG, despite their own version.

I'm all for the good old RPG's, not the stuff FFG is doing that's all about building dice pools and having a crapton of tokens on hand.

HOT DAMN!

I REALLY hope they offer print on demand for some of the now ridiculously priced on the secondary market books such as:

Night's Dark Masters
Children of the Horned Rat
Realm of the Ice Queen

The Career Compendium was another insanely high priced book, as was the Tome Of Corruption - but no more!

Wasn't Realm of the Ice Queen that Kislev source book? If so, sign me up as well!

Yes, it was!

Talk about a much needed book for a WFB setting - think of the possibilities!

So yeah, Vampires, Skaven and the 'gateway' to the hideous North... give us those books too ad PoD, please!

Quick newbie question, does this game run on the D100 system or does it use a crapton of different dice like all those other RPG's?

Maybe a bit odd, but that might help sway my group into picking this up..

I wonder if this is their way of getting around the fact that the current WFRP books are so thin they have little to no useful background or information on the world?

You mean the 3E books?

I had no idea that they were "Background Thin".

If so, that bodes well for the rest of these hard to find 2E books getting the PoD treatment!

Well, I guess that is, if the current batch sells well.

I know I'll be getting the Career Compendium ASAP though - doing my part!

They're thin in general, at least as far as the early products go. I have the starter set (sic!), since I apparently did some illustrations for it, and it's an empty shell of previous WFRP editions. Guess all the cardboard was worth more than actual content.

All in all, I'm really glad they're bringing this back. Hopefully, it means the current edition is on it's last legs and we might see a proper 4th edition.

Amen to that brother, amen!

And since you mentioned it, can you share some of your art for 3E with us?

I'd love to see it!

I seem to have misplaced the PSDs for those, though it appears I still have the 40k stuff. I think I did a bunch of character card shots (which got horribly altered by someone) and some general illustrative stuff. Goblins with a stone troll among others. I did found this, and I can't remember if it was something I've done for 3rd or for Invasion LCG. Old times really, at least as far as my style goes.

VERY nice - I'd like to see more!

And... Stone Trolls are some of my favorite WFB models - I'd love it if you could find your illustration of one!

Yup. For example, Liber Mutatis, the Tzeentch resource book is a whopping 48 pages long. Out of that you have 9 pages on Chaos and Tzeentch, of which I'd say about 2-3 pages worth of space are taken up with images. Then you've got 3 pages on mutations and all the rules; 5 pages on the corruption and mutation rules; 9 pages of Tzeentch related creatures and the rest is a short adventure. Everything to do with Priests and religion in the Empire is in a pamphlet 44 pages long; of which I'd say about 6-7 pages worth of images bulks that out. The thickest book is the main rules (96 pages), which contains a massive 10 pages all about the Warhammer world and the Empire; plus 3 full page maps. Woo!

You get the drift...

While I quite like the system, if you don't already know the Warhammer world you'd be scuppered trying to run a game in it without making your own world up. This of course, defeats the whole purpose of having a long, rich background that has built up over the years. I think the intro story in 2E has more fluff and atmosphere

Wasn't the original Career Compendium just a softcover release? This means that this will be the first time that it is available in HC, which makes me, someone who loves HC, so very happy.

Same here!

I'll be buying this in HC tomorrow.

Hopefully, a lot of other people do the same, and then we get a lot of additional PoD options...soon!
