Didn't seem to be a thread here for it, so wondered if anyone else was taking an interest http://www.spartangames.co.uk/games/dystopian-legions

As a group, were hoping it scales to skirmish sized battles fairly well, we are thinking of using it in joint with Dystopian wars battles during campaigns. Personally though im hoping the EotBS gets a unit along the lines of those prussian iron knights or whatever they are, get a 7 Samurai themed force going

There was a thread about the game in the News and Rumor section, but it quickly fell off the first page, and I'm not sure where it is now.

I'm anxiously awaiting this game, and soaking up every drop of knowledge about it I can.

I'm really hoping the game will scale up to a level I will finally be able to get away from space marine-hammer for good. I'm so dead sick of playing against that boring army.

I do hope it will also play well for skirmish level games, although I really don't care for them myself, but they would do well to resolve boarding actions. I just personally feel there are already enough options for skirmish level 28mm gaming while there is really only 1-2 options out for 40k level 28mm games.

I think the problem right now is there really isn't anything more than some pretty pictures of models andsome mission statements/marketing speak out about the game so far.

I love what I've seen of the miniatures so far, and I'm just hoping that Spartan can stay focused long enough to really do them justice with a well thought out and well supported set of rules and releases!

Haha lets face it, Dakkas DW crowd seems to be a little thin on the posts compared to the other boards anyway, though that could just be because of the spartan community board as well. Least posting it here its not about to get lost again

There may be alot of skirmish OPTIONS, but not like we have to play all of them To be fair i like that theyv said it should be able to scale either way, and we were thinking more along the lines of multi stage battles (escorting a "carrier" unit to an enemy bunker complex or town via DW, then a resulting battle using DL).

Aye, they HAVE been alot more focused lately though, they seem to be picking up steam with the releases compared to how they have been.

Well KoB already has Flashheart in model form.

So all we really need are some tidy rules and someone to bark a lot...

Yes there a lot of skirmish options, and I don't expect you play all of them, but there a lot of options to hopefully get something good to use. Infinity could also be used without the crazy electronic warfare rules using the DL theme.

I personally think the assault on a town or airbase would be better suited to larger level combats, with fireteams or squads working together to capture strategic points. Probably more on the scale of a 1000point 40k rather than a 2000, but larger than most skirmishes.

Well, I'm looking forward to this one myself; if nothing else, I will be getting a couple of the tank models to highlight the scale of the DW models.

I never liked the british faction, and I'm way more interested in the naval warfare than in another 35mm miniature wargame, but I'd jump into collecting a Knights Templar force without thinking twice if these were plastic miniatures. These are the best looking futuristic knight designs I've EVER seen in any 35mm wargame.

Is any part of this going to be plastic?

Aren't they metal, resin or both?

I don't think any of these will be plastic. They will probably be metal and resin miniatures. It's obvious plastic moulding requires a huge investment. I just said if they were, I'd buy them without thinking twice about it.

I like the new version of exploding dice, three different levels for a 6. Haven't really read through all of it yet.

For those that don't know, rules and four factions are available as downloads on the Spartan Games site.

A quick glance through the rules, and I'm fairly interested in trying this game out. Seems like a good "small game" alternative to the 5 hour 40k fight. A game that can be played in a spare hour is always nice.

I love the change to the dice mechanic, I like the idea of exploding 6s, but felt it happened "too often". That combined with orders and cards seems like it would make for a rather dynamic game.

I think the normal exploding dice work fine for the 3 core games, it does its job and on the large scale without overcomplicating things with different weapons on each and every unit.

I do love the new dice for this though, it shows the difference between weapons pretty well. The shotguns are damaging at 2 red meaning they could end up rerolling at close, as oposed to say an officers pistol thats more of a token weapon, may hit but its not going to work wonders and its not hitting on a scale like the buckshot.

The scaling seems nice too, get an officer and core unit, and add in something special and bang, your hitting 100 points nearly. Nice small scale and can keep it characterfull, especially if your group tends to prefer setting up more story driven matches than "capture the token just because". Hell im hoping for samurai infantry and my friend wants to theme some KoB around Zulu

"Exploding 6's" is not a mechanic I like at all, but for this game, I'll overlook it and give it a shot!

Whats so bad about exploding 6s?

Also looks confirmed, full pewter infantry, except the hussars who have resin smoke collumns and the tutonic knights who are resin+pewter (im guessing in a similar way to the metzgar)

I think some people disliked the randomness of "I rolled 7 sixes, exploded more, and sunk your battleship with a frigate!" being a possibility. Personally, I never really minded, as the probability of that actually happening is extremely low. (My presonal gripe with FSA was the crit table, with 2 of the results being instant-gib. Hope that doesn't return for Ironclads in DL.)

Personally, I like the look of the rules. A bit more faction differentiation than I saw from other spartan offerings, what looks like a pretty tight ruleset, great models. I like the alternating activations system, although I'm not sure about having to decide the order you activate in beforehand. Originally I was looking at Britannia, but those Prussian Teutonic Knights...(I know Britannian Knights are in the pipe, but I'm not nearly that patient).

Either way, I'm going to see if I can drum up enough enthusiasm in my local gaming group to get some people to buy starter boxes and get this game off the ground.

They've definetly made each faction feel different, at least stat wise. Adding in that half your cards are going to be faction-specific.

Trying to get some people interested, I own KoB and FSA fleets, and Prussian and FSA ground forces. Campaigns using both systems sound like they'd be a blast.

Aren't Infantry tokens being added to DW in the new campaign book? I smell variant rule: Whenever an infantry token makes an attack against another infantry token, instead of making the attack begin a game of DL.

Also just noticed that an infantry unit that sees a friendly unit or officer die has to make a morale test. Seems like a good rule to me, adds a bit of realism that soldiers are less likely to hang around if they see their mates or commanders getting killed in droves, even if they're not from the same unit.
