Subject: Any idea if Bethseda (Skyrim creators) would be willing to create a 40K themed game?

I was just wondering, after all the hype of the upcoming Dark Millenium game, and after the massive success of Skyrim, would it be possible if Bethseda, the creators of Skyrim, would be willing to do a Warhammer themed, Skyrim style, game. I mean, the map would have to be many times larger and there would need to be far more NPC's fighting it out, but I was wondering if anybody had heard of Bethseda taking an interest in it?
Please feel free to suggest anything you would like to see in a hypothetical game such as this and how you think it should be laid out if it was to be done.

It's not so much "Would Bethesda be interested?" It's more "Would GW even consider it."
I'm fairly certain Relic/THQ are the only ones who can.
Besides, the last thing I want to hear in my game is:
"I used to be a soldier like you, but then I took a bolter round to the knee." (I could imagine a dreadnought saying this though.)

That would be rubbish. A GW RPG would be best suited to something more like the KOTOR inferface.

Bethseda wouldn't consider it. They have there own settings. I also can't see them doing warhammer unless they outright buy the whole thing. Licensing deals tend to be bad for the developer.

I guess it would be a no-go area - I think, like Dr. What said, that Relic and THQ are the only ones with the rights to do it. Plus I suppose the 40K theme wouldn't be too well suited to the idea of a 'lone hero' type of setting. It was just something I was thinking about due to Dark Millennium seeming to be going in the same sort of direction.
Thanks for the responses though.

Bioware... Same people who did Mass Effect? If they made a 40K style Mass effect i'm sure I'd buy it (simply because, for me, Mass effect was utterly epic - except the ending for ME3, but I can see a potential way they can break into a 4th one)

There won't be a ME4.
Bioware has stated they will not go past the events of ME3. Any further games will be before or during the events of the Mass Effect Trilogy.

You sure? I mean i'll take your word for it, but I have read in numerous places that there IS going to be an ME4, but they haven't disclosed whether it would be based during the First Contact War, during the events of ME1-ME3, a revival of Shepard somehow (I'd like to hope for this one - regardless of how Shepard features in the other 3 and theoretically died.) or the final option of a new Character being brought in. As far as I've heard (though obviously you may have better sources than me - I don't know) pretty much all we know is that there will be an ME4.

Everything you just said but it wont be called "Mass Effect 4", probably something like "Mass Effect Legacy" or "Mass Effect: First Contact".

Maybe not a 40k based RPG, but a WHF based one? That would be pretty damn sweet.
Oh, and Trondheim, in what way was Skyrim a steaming pile of gak? It is by far the best game to be released in the past 18 months.....
Still, respect for your opinion. It's not often you come across a Skyrim naysayer...

A 40k rpg would be best in the mass effect style. But WFB, I can see that. Also, Skyrim rubbish? What nonsense is this? Skyrim is AWESOME. Sure the memes around it are dumb, but the game itself is excellent.

Awsome stuff tends to spawn gak memes, except MLP. In which case gak spawns awsome memes.

I have no idea how Warhammer games get made, if someone wants to make one or if GW asks someone to make one.

As a discussion grows in length, the probability of a comparison to Matt Ward or Gray Knights approaches one.

Relic has 40k licence, relic makes them.
EA has WHFB licence, so they make those (last time I checked).
It's all just licencing deals.

I agree, Marines simply don't work for an RPG.
They could show up as allies/enemies at some point, but I want them to show up and be like "O'S***, the (Chaos)Space marines are here. We're screwed/saved!"

it could be an option. Over the course of the game you could fall to Chaos/secretly worship the dark gods.
If discovered you would be hounded by Puritans accross the subsector etc.
The game would be massive, I'm thinking the following.
Have 3-5 planets, each with 5-6 map areas. Each map area would be roughly the size of the Skyrim map. Ships in orbit could be map areas to travel to.
In order to move between map areas you would need to travel to specific areas to get transportation, so either the edge of a map, starport, personal shuttle, etc...
I'd love some sort of personal suttle that you could land basically anywhere on the map there is room.
As I said, it would be a massive game as far as space is concerned but it would be awsome.
