Can anyone suggest a good source of power axes that would scale we with Imperial Guard? I'm no fan of huge axes that you might see Space Marines toting.

Alternatively if anyone can suggest a good conversion that would also be od interest.

I would look into the WFB range - something like Marauders.

I am currently taking commissions.

Here's a WiP squad leader with a power axe:

I took an axe from the warriors of chaos (though I'm sure the marauders would work fine as well) & cut it off just above the handle, then took an IG chainsword arm & cut the sword off just above the handguard, a little jiggery pokery, some thin gauge brass rod & voila!

Yeah was gonna suggest a marauder axe, maybe use some plasticard and wire to make it look more 40k and power weaponesque

Guardsmen with axes is just...wrong.

Dwarf axes would probably be a good fit as they wouldn't be too massive for the guardsmen and would be more believeable as I think those ones may be a bit too big.

I reckon it'd work with Catachan's, Cadians not so sure

Imperial Guard- Cadian 404th- 2500pts
Orks- Krugz Krushaz- 2000pts
Space Marines- Storm Enforcers- 300pts (starting over)

I think even Catachans are too "civilised" to use axes. They're more into their machetes and combat knives. About the only way I could see it really working would be some totally tribal guardsmen.

Nah axes will make a nice antidote to terminators on a LC with a bunch of Ogryns. I see it being the new powerblob potentially. OGpowerblob has a certain ring to it.

Some good ideas here though chaps, it has made me remember I have some of the Mordhiem weapon and Dwarf weapon sprues some we're around here. I'll dig them out. Cheers.

If you could find a modern day style combat tomahawk, it would look pretty nice on od

I beg to differ!

I found a bunch of 2nd edition power axes on eBay and used those. The Ork boyz from the 2nd ed starter set had some power axes, Assault Marines have a power axe in the box, and you can always make axes out of plasticard.

So, what is answer to my question about battle pick/peak? Can it be WYSWIYG as a power axe?
Damn, it's SO difficult to find any power axe or at least similar sized axe
