Eh, I'm ok with them so far, but I am generally pretty flexible when it comes to fictional races. I'm more concerned with whether they can make a general audience connect with them in a way that isn't built on comedy relief, which is shown a lot in the trailers.
Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.
The Dwarfs look good enough for me. Not quite sure what your expecting, I like that there is a variety in appearance between the 13 (and then Gimil in LOTR) they look absolutely fine.
And that trailer has most definitely peaked my interest in the film back to its original high point. After being so impressed by The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises this summer, I was worried that The Hobbit could be a bit of a let down, but I very much doubt that.
... I'm wondering about the fellow riding the rabbit-drawn sled through the forest - surely that can't be Beorn? I'm thinking it must be Tom Bombadil - I know Jackson wanted to expand upon the original story to tie it more closely with the Trilogy, but Tom was never in that film (that I can remember). Curious....
Looks enjoyable if a bit CGI infested. That's what I loved about Fellowship... very little digital effects beyond what was really needed.
The individual look of the dwarfs has grown on me and was probably needed in order to make it easy to differentiate between them. Don't like the pretty boy aragorn one though (Fili or Kili?)
EDIT - Best bit is the Gollum vs Bilbo exchange...
Gollum - "If I win, I eats you whole?"
Bilbo - after a classic "Tim from the Office" comedy pause, "Fair enough."

Dwarves that look like Dwarves rather than ... basically, Star Trek aliens.
Thirteen Gimlis? Can you not imagine how terribly confusing that would be for the average cinemago'er, not to mention those whom are already avid Tolkien fans. Fili, Kili, Oin, Gloin, Thorin Oakenshield, Dwalin, Balin, Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, Dori, Nori, and Ori. Whilst I could pick them out with the colours of their cloaks in the cinema, I seriously doubt even that could be used as a function for identifying which Dwarf is which, even after introduction, for the common folk. I am thankful for the difference in design between all of the Dwarves. We have some typical Dwarves, some of a travelling nature and some of a less than savoury form.
For what it's worth; the key importance for me is that the Dwarves act like Dwarves, that they give us a real sense of camaraderie, of friendship, brotherhood and bond. Nobility, determination, typical Dwarven traits that Tolkien set out with just a touch of bumbling comedy as per the Hobbit requires.

That's either going to be Beorn or Radagast. I'm going to watch the trailer again and make a decision on that since I cannot recall the two actor's faces for both of those parts.

Are my only options Klingons or Gimlis? Then I'll take Gimlis. Joking aside, some of the dwarves (Bombur) look very Dwarven while others (Thorin, Fili & Kili) don't look Dwarven in the slightest.

My thoughts too it's a real mix of good and bad aesthetically for the dwarves, but then again they are a race with it's own distinct culture so there's no reason to not assume that there's a lot of variety in the ways they dress or look.

Fair enough; it's your opinion and I'm not going to argue against it. For me, I am fine with the change and the distinction.
P.J made the choice to alter a few things from the trilogy, I'm sure the Dwarves here won't be the last from the next trilogy. Kili is the most problematic for me, although I can reconcile it against the other twelve (and for sheer virtue of finally having these films!) He's young, very young for the Dwarves. I can only hope that both Fili and Kili's deaths at the Battle of the Five Armies whilst defending the mortally wounded Thorin are as tear-jerking and well done as Boromir's was at Amon Hen. God; that will be a glorious moment in the cinema.

I still remember watching the original trilogy--I had such low expectations, thinking there was no way anyone could begin to do the books justice--and being blown away. Can't wait!

Yeah, its Radagast.
The movie is going to cover Sauron's first reincarnation as the Necromancer(which is actually what triggered the Ring to leave Gollum)
This expansion is going to be awsome and really tie in the events of Middle Earth together. I just now wish we could have some of what was going on in Erebor during the Two Towers and Return of the King.

Maybe he's the Necromancer? Necronmancer Lenny, the grooviest necromancer this side of Mirkwood.

I think it looks pretty good. I'll definitely go and see it, so it's money in the bank for the studio. I think Thorin is okay- though he always seems to be staring into the middle distance

Thorin needs a longer beard imo, even if it just a bad CGI effect that the animators add at the last minute I'll be happy.
Agreed. My list of movies I enjoyed watching this year have been few. I am hoping for the best.

Winter's Bone was a better Jennifer Lawrence vehicle.
Oh no, sorry. It was just a darn good film, starring her.
Trailer for Hobbit roxxors my boxxors. Not quite as hard as the first one did, but I'm a sucker for a good song. Everything looks good to me. Even though I'm not 100% on all of the dwarves, I try to bear in mind that Tolkien's didn't exactly fit the mold D&D has cast partially from Tolkien's work.
