Hello. I'm just starting playing 40K again, after about a ten year break.

At the moment, I'm building the semi obligatory Dark Angels army. I've not invested a ton into the game, So far I've gotten Dark Vengeance, As well as the 5 DA that come in the basic paint kit. I've also gotten a squad of assault marines. So my current Mini's list is as follows

HQ
Chapter Master
Librarian
Integrator chaplain

Troops:
Tactical marines - 10 man squad (per dark vengeance set up)
Tactical Marines - 5 man squad with bolters

Fast attack
Ravenwing bikers (Dark Vengence)
Assault Marines - 5 man squad with jetpacks, Sargent with power sword and plasma pistol

Elites:
Terminator Squad (again Dark Vengence)

I realize, I'm going to want to get another full tactical squad, as well as 5 more assault marines for a full squad. and that I'll probably want to get 2 razorbacks (as they can double as Rhino's easily)
But what should my priorities be?

I like to say I have two armies: Necrons, and Imperium.....

Tanks, Get some magnets and magnetize a predator.
Some MAY disagree with this, but i think a vindicator is essential to any SM force.

Frankly, it'd be best to wait until the imminent codex for DA emerges to expand. If you can't wait a few months, then razorbacks are a safe bet.

Don't get assault marines. They're only good in Blood Angels because they can be scoring meltaguns with Furious Charge and Feel No Pain. None of these things is true for Dark Angels.

Vindicators fare far better in 6e. In 5e, any successful armor pen roll shut it down for at least a turn, even a glance. Now you actually need to pen and a weapon destroyed has a half chance of leaving you the demo cannon. If you take one, take two to ensure you're getting shots off, and the extra storm bolter isn't a bad expenditure.

Predators are currently a little too expensive for Dark Angels. This may change but don't expect it to.

^ This. Wait a month or two till the new codex drops.

More Deathwing termies will almost be essential though. So any termies will probably be a safe investment. UNLESS there is Deathwing specific kit released which is quite possible. So its probably best to just hold of on anything other then another tac squad or something....

Something boring like Rhinos or Droppods seems the safest. These are always useful bread and butter items, and will never go away. I've got a soft spot for my Ultramarine assault marines, but they are total garbage and struggle to win melee even against basic enemies.

Deathwing bikes could be a relatively safe bet - 3 is a bit too few to do much of anything, I think, and you can safely add another couple of boxes and give them all the options to 'future-proof' yourself.

On Nimbosa, cramming as many guardsmen into troop carriers as possible.

Get a ravenwing battleforce to beef up on bikes. Maybe a razorback or 2.

Consider buying the DA side of the Dark Vengeance boxed set off of someone. I know theres a thread here in the swap shop with people trading DA and Chaos halves.

Get all your stuff now, so you don't face the inevitable price raise!

When you finish what you have in mind, buy a land raider crusader/redeemer kit! You won't regret it. A land raider really makes an army shine.
