So after finally getting around to painting some plaugebearers I'm really liking the sound of a tally style list.
I also still have a soft spot for the fate weaver.

The idea goes something like:
Fateweaver
Epidermus
Lots of plaugebearers
Some flamers
Some pink horrors
Nurglings maybe
And 2 or 3 nurgle princes.

To me this sounds like a really powerful list.
The idea of plaugebearers with a 5+ inv with a re-roll and 3+ FNP on top of ignoring armour sounds like virtually invincible.
And having some tzeentch units in there just sounds like gravy to me.

What are your thoughts and ideas? I'm quite new to demons. Is it as nuts as it sounds or is it such a points pink that its never going to bring that tally up high enough?
Any and all advice is welcome and thanks in advance.

In your squads, doing the chainsword tango

The problem with tally is it only goes up when a model with MoN kills something. Your DP's need to get up and killing stuff to increase the tally

You are asking the prices to kill 20 models that is a lot to ask for facing a lot of armies. Add in the models that make the tall effective and a unit to hide epi and it will be pricy. Could be great vs hoard and objectives though. Try it and let us know.

I intended to simply make those princes really fast and survivable to boost the tally.
Iron hide, wings, breath, aura and noxious touch gives me a tough as nails prince who reliably puts lots of wounds out each turn.

I wanted to use tzeentch more as an alpha strike and deal with any units that nurgle won't do so well against.
Tanks, faster models, very high strength etc.
It also gives me a nice distraction to let the tally reach the top tier without being shot to bits early on.

Or have I missed something with the idea?

On a side note, what protection should I give Epedemus?
A large squad of plaugebearers is the obvious choice but could beasts of nurgle prove to be a nasty surprise?
I ask because I have never heard anything good about beasts of nurgle but 2 wound random attacks sounds like it will pack more hurt than plaugebearers, usually.

As a side note.
I'd like to give aura of decay a lot of props.

I know its a very poor shooting attack but the ability to throw it out in combat when everything is bunched up (talking hoards here) nets a few wounds on volume of dice alone.
Not so great against eg. terminators, but having 1 or 2 models drop from rot will always put a smile on my face.

I put epi with nurglings a lot. it is a lot of wounds to shoot through, cost less and a lot of the time you can keep them out of line of sight.

Epi and fateweaver are powerful force multipliers, but the 2 together is really expensive and doesn't leave much force left to multiply. Also the new csm dex comes out in 2 weeks, it might drastically change a tally list.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

No it won't, not based on the latest Daemon FAQs.

Few issues.

1: Plaguebearers only have 1 attack.
Even if it ignores armour its still not going to do a great deal.

2: If your going for a tally list, make sure its capable of building the tally quickly, or else your wasting time and points on flashing models.

3: Kairos is nice and all an really does boost the list, but not in the sense of helping with the tally.
Same with the horrors and flamers.

If you want a tally list the epidemius is a must.
Ku'gath is also a nice option as his ranged large blast does enough damage to build it quickly.
I would try something like this:

Epidemius
Herald of nurgle on palanquin with breath
Ku'gath

7 Beasts of nurgle
7 Beasts of nurgle

6 plaguebearers (epidemius's unit)
6 plaguebearers (heralds unit)
7 plaguebearers
7 Bases of nurglings
7 Bases of nurglings

Throw the rest of points into Daemon princes with MoN and wings.
Iron hide if you wish and breath is also good for fast tally building.

Even with amazing FNP, to hit rolls and ignoring armour, bearers are still ineffective.

The beasts and nurglings however, are very different.
They can both throw out enough attacks to really make it count and will tear through armoured targets.
Will still struggle with horde though unless you make sure you have a few models with breath.
