Hi all, I was wondering recently how to convert GEQ into Red Alert 2 or 3-recognizable units.

The idea started when I looked at my 2 lonely guardsmen on their sprues and had no use for them;
thought about making a Red Alert 3 tesla trooper and WHAM! My background was changed on my computer.
The idea: use a normal guardsman and add a SM shoulder pad to his head. Cut out a whole in the front for vision,
then add a creepy shrouded head in the middle with manic eyes. Then, use cut-up Devastator and Tac. Marine backpacks
for the electric storage thing. I have no idea what to do for the gun, but I could just use an space marine instead of a guardsman
for more armor.

And specifically: Soviet units for Tesla and such, DESOLATORS.

Seeing a squad of veterens swoop in in a Vendetta, secure the area, deliver that math assignment, and extract within 2 minutes would be freaking sweet.

While i don't have any soviet infantry from Red alert. I built a Tesla Leman Russ inspired by the Tesla tank weapons system in the games (its not the greastest on earth but im proud of it being unique).

the Tesla "Gun" in the Red alert 3 tesla trooper is is very simple rectangular peice of equipment with a opening on the front.
It could come from the front end of a Plasma cannon/gun closing of the cut open end and attaching it to the arm.

The Desolator carrys twin gasoline nozzles. one in each hand. in which he sprays his special brew.
They could be built by putting together some small pipes and things made form plasticard.

the space suit-ish terminator armor could work as a Tesla suit and the head area can be enclosed, at least thats the RA3 version. the RA2 version is more a guardsmen who strapped on a weird helmet and arm weapon.

Terminator armor with is slouched over, and extreamly bulky nature would be best. the head area would need modification to work but its possible.
The back pack requires a single antenna of course. the powerpacks for a devestator lascannon/plasmacannon with this antenna would be perfect.
Terminator arm's could simply need the tesla guns attached to them, the wires and such are already present.

the Desolator would be just like the Tesla suit but have slats instead of a single port-hole alongside the large chemical tanks on his back and the sprayers in his hands.

.
Tesla Tanks are possible.

If you wanna keep with Guardsmen. it plays as an Executioner Leman Russ (the lightning arcs to the 3 blasts), its not exact, but it was my first attempt at major construction.

^ Thanks for the response, I've seen your tesla tank in the gallery

What stinks though is that I just finished my dev. squad with all of my plasma cannons a few weeks ago,

I'll probably use the standard SM termies for the Tesla troopers and desolators, for desolator weapon i'll use all my handy guard gasonline tanks for the fuel

of course now i want to attempt a Tesla Trooper....

I have some "Space Marine" allies that are mid construction. Maybe some "plasma" (tesla) trooper would be in order. once i get the initiative to start up of course lol.

oh my gosh yes do this, Red Alert is one of my favorite games. I'd love to see an entire army of this if that's possible. I'd love to see this!

Admiral Chester W Nimitz wrote:The war with Japan had been re-enacted in the game rooms here by so many people and in so many different ways, that nothing that happened during the war was a surprise.

My Cold War NATO IG, love to know what you think

lol, I just might start a Painting blog and mdelling blog for this.

Yay! I got 20 bucks on an Amazon card for donating money to school by going to a Walk-a-thon (lol)

Of course, I have other money so I won't be short of funds

I'll probably use 'em as LIGHTNING NECRON ALLIES MWAHAHAHAHAHAH! Dunno, Necrons don't really have Imperium o' Man allies...

Necrons are can be allies with imperial forces but i think they are those that are counted as enemy units or something or other.

They can be used but at most they can offer their firepower.

Yeah, I'm trying to find a lightning equivalent that can insta-kill most Troops (humans). Plasma might work, but I feel that the tesla is more of the 'Smite' psychic power or something.

If that was the case, I'd have to use them as Librarians or Grey Knights. Still planning out an army list or something without making up special rules.

For a weapons equivilent to the Tesla Trooper and Desolator.

Plasma weapons work best for the Tesla weapons due to the concept they use. blasts of electricity are easily equivilent to a plasma blast. which is how i work my Tesla Tank

The Desolator would be a chemical cannon. Too bad you can't use a chem cannon akin to the Hellhound varient, the Banewolf on a soldier. even a heavy infantry unit.

The only thing i can imagine that would work with a heavy flamer. if only i could attach the 2+ poison rule to it. it would make the Desolator possible, if not a very effective weapon system.

I've begun building my "Space Marine" Allies infantry. But i cannot remember what a SPace Marine Squad can take in terms of special weapons (not gonna ask because its not allowed anyways, ill get that from a freind with a codex.) But i've equated it to a IG squad and will build at least 2 plasma gun weilding troopers (Aka Tesla Troopers ) and if possible a plasma cannon. Melta weapons, dispite the fact they function differently from a plasma weapon they could work akin to a Tesla Weapon kicked into high gear to punch through armor like a melta gun.

So I may end up with 4 "Tesla Troopers". all of which could be swapped between using the Melta gun rules or a plasma gun rules. Either way. Ill let you know how it works. please let me know how yours goes. im interested on seeing how it will work!

At my FLGS today, a couple a guys persuaded me to use the Stealth suits from the Tau as Tesla troopers. Hey, it costs less and is easier to convert. Also, the size of the Tesla guy is more bulkiness than height.

For now, I'm using the fusion gun-dude (Tesla trooper) as a Bone 'Ead and the other two desolators as Ogryns

TBH, I would probably end up using them in Henchmen bands or Paladin squads or something.

Nice pic above, Jackal
