So I just got my first finecast models, a box of fire dragons, I was expecting the worst but was actually happy overall with the quality. Couple of bubbles here and there but nothing that will take much work to fix...but the one thing that did annoy me was the tab that gets inserted into the slotta base. Since GW stammped Games Workshop on one side and Eldar on the other side it did not fit into the base so I had to shave the text off of the tab to get it to fit.

Not really a big deal at all just annoyed me and was wondering if all fine case models need this treatment?

A large portion of the current Finecast range have been 'converted' from the original metal moulds, hence they still have the same vents and tabs that the metal ones did (and in fact, some have extra vents and tabs as the resin needs it to cure properly). I guess GW either didn't/couldn't/wouldn't remove the tab section from the mould. I'm not sure if it is actually needed or just a hold-over from the metal mould but either way, if the model you are buying used to be in metal, then chances are it will have a slotta tab. If its a newer Finecast model, then I don't think they all have tabs.

The tabs iirc are part of the metal masters themselves, so anything that was transferred from metal to resin would likely still have them.

I don't believe models that were designed for finecast have them as they are not needed.

Why is it a 'bother' to have to shave the tabs? You had to do that with the original metal models and it was harder with that material!

Some of them will still have it though. I had to do the same thing for Isabella and I believe that one was designed to be finecast. Of course it's like wyches and such, where they need it because their connection to the base would suck without it.

I'd prefer tabs that are a bit too tight and need to be shaved back down to ones that are undersized and will never quite form a proper bond with a slottabase, It's just the nature of how they cast things I think, most of my Dark Vengeance set needed the same treatment.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).
