I reckon the knife missile out of a drone companion to a Special Circumstances agent of the Contact section of The Culture would be able to kill a Space Marine without anyone realising it had happened.

a never ending swarm of Guardsmen or primitive warriors like in those Grey Knights books. the marine has every possible advantage out there but no one has unlimited ammo. Ok so say he gets drop pods full of ammo and he can almost never run out eventually the masses would close in. he would kill a gak load in cc but eventually the bayonets and knives, claymores and battle axes would break some seals at the joints. Armour is ripped off and the sofy fleashy parts are hacked to pieces. it doesnt matter if you can see in the dark and have thick bones if 30 something bayonetts smash your face in.

then of course GW and the rest of the marines start pouting that someone killed one of their poster boys and nuke the gak outtta the planet

A lot of things from Starcraft could kill your average 40k Space Marine.

Such as Hydralisks (they kill everything, and burrow, and, well, has 10-15 hundred zerglings around to use as meatshields (in an actual combat how the zerg are described to fight, i.e., give Tyranid swarms (again fluff-wise) a run for their money, body-count wise.)

Or Wraiths (clocking is fun) or ghosts (see earlier parentheses statement, also, nukes), siege tanks, Goliaths, science vessels (irradiate ability), Battlecruisers, packs of zerglings, zerg guardians, protoss zealots/dragoons/reavers/carriers/scouts/dark templars/archons so on and so forth

Not to mention all the killy new stuff in SC2

I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned this before....but what about Dark Troopers from the Star Wars EU? They seem to be as heavily armored as a Marine, but also much slower. But that's countered by the fact that they are robots who can afford to lose an arm or so to a power/chain sword. plus, they have some models specialized for close combat!

additionally, what about Zone Troopers from Command and Conquer 3? Their jump packs give them similar mobility to an assault marine, and I have a feeling their rail guns would be able to pierce power armor.

SM can afford to lose arms, and legs, and good portions of their entire lower body...and important organs like hearts and lungs...and swimming pools full of blood...

Lethal doses of radiation are just absorbed and neutralized...

Maybe if a nuke landed directly on top of an SM but...they could probably survive a close detonation

I don't think Star Wars or SC have the chops to deal with SM

unless by 'close detonation' you mean at least a few hundred meters from the hypocenter of the blast. if they were standing close to a nuclear detonation, they would be completel vaporize, no matter how tough their armor was. sm could most likely survive the direct radiation as well as the fall out, and if they were far enough away could survive the heat and overpressure. but if they nuke were anywhere near them? they'd be toast (quite literally i might add)

I beg to differ. An Ultramarine would survive because "Ultramarines always win, all the time. Hurr-durrka-durr."

The logical flaw with SMs is that while they are awesome at straight 1-2-1 combat, they aren't invulnerable or immortal and can be killed in a variety of fairly ordinary means.

Because they are so expensive, and relatively easy to kill, they will usually lose by attrition to ordinary troops.

One flaw... as pointed in DOW II the book.... SM dont sleep but for a hour every 3-4 days
