Ok now is the question of 40k get the new rules or quit 40k and find another wargame to play I know its £40 from Element Games and then I have another book to sit around to gather dust??

Well, ask yourself how often you play. If you want a game, pick up the rules then.

Also, who do you play with? If you have regular opponents, what are their thoughts? Unless you're playing pick-up games at a GW, nothing to stop you continuing with whatever edition you want to play.
This advice coming from a non-player to be fair I know if I still played I'd probably choose original RT or possibly 4th (I think that was the one with IG doctrines, chapter traits and nid mutations, yeah?)

As a non-player I haven't taken much notice of the details of the change yet, but would there be big changes to stuff like kill-team?

Have not had one game of 6th

can´t really add any insights as to how to react on the new edition... I never really played any game ...

There is one but most of the tables get booked up the week before and i think sometimes theyd hate to loose to a girl

I tried a few times giving up 40k and playing something else but found I can't leave it alone. I started at a young age and it seems to be engraved in me.

I've been in for Rouge Trader, Second, Fifth, Sixith and just ordered Seventh.

If it's a money thing wait and see how much the box rules go for when DV gets 're-packaged. You don't Need the rules to enjoy the painting side of the hobby.

I need 1 more Storm Raven for the Deathwatch squad and I have noidea whats next poss guard as chapter serfs or not.

I find painting very relaxing and dont think I could be without it, helps me get away from real life.

Yeah, just concentrate on the painting and modelling side for now if you've not been playing much. If you're not careful they'll have brought out 8th Edition before you get a game (coming September 2015 I heard )

Keep an eye out for FAQs to keep your codex current, and as Giraffe says, look for the mini-rulebook if they do another starter kit.

Having said all that, I still think that I'll end up getting 7th just beause they've cunningly added n the separate art and fluff books.....my only hope is that the art book is all studio miniatures rather than minis and art - that might stay my hand for a while....
