If they did such a thing, it'd have to be Giant Dad OR RIOT!!

Hello Unkindled,

Praise the Sun \[T]/ A fantastic start to the day, we've hit another Stretch Goal and added Xanthous King, Jeramiah to the Invader Expansion. More news on their in-game effect will be revealed during the AMA on Reddit tomorrow at 12-13:00BST.

Our next Stretch Goal is going to be the big £2,000,000. When we hit this amazing milestone we will be adding Kirk, Knight of Thorns to the Invader Expansion. Not only that but we will be introducing a new Add On, no teasers from me on that one. You'll have to twist Mat & Rich's arms during the AMA.

Keep up the great atmosphere in the comment section - 'Brylex the Sleepless' will be around to answer your questions throughout the day. Please remember to share the project and talk about it with friends. More backers = more funding = more stretch goals. JOLLY COOPERATION!

\[T]/

Looks like they're increasing the gap between stretch goals again. I wonder what the next Add-On will be? If they do Artorias/Sif, Gravelord Nito, or Gwyn they've got my money. I'd KILL to get Crossbreed Priscilla in plastic, but sadly I doubt we will see her this Kickstarter.

2 million mark has been reached, and we unlocked SIF AND ARTORIAS! ...Sadly, as an addon, but it's actually a full expansion, so well worth the money, imo.

Hey unkindled,

£2,000,000 has now been reached! What an incredible achievement - this Kickstarter is set to break records if it continues at the pace it has. Kirk in all his thorny goodness has now been unlocked for you all for FREE!

But Wait! There's More!

Since the start of this campaign people have been asking about a certain pair of models that have a big following within the community - Sif and Artorias. We had originally planned to release this set after the Kickstarter project but due to demand we have decided to pull them forward and can now offer the Darkroot Basin Expansion Set as a purchasable Add-On to celebrate the incredible £2,000,000 we have reached together!

[-snipped some stuff about how to manage your pledge-]

That Everything? Nope!

Melinda the Butcher is up next, a crazy lady with a Greataxe +3...not a bad bit of kit to add to your pile!

Lastly, it is Golden Week at the moment in Japan, a National holiday (lucky them!). This has impacted some of our approval times however we expect our next lot of models, etc. to become available at some point next week so look forward to that as we enter our last week of the Kickstarter!

Today is absolutely a day to Praise the Sun! \[T]/

I feel like the price tag for this expansion is worth it and we finally get some enemies, that are at least a bit different. Still humanoid (except Sif), but better than "knight in another armour set".
I still want a "Bestiary Expansion", though. Rats, giant rats, basilisks, various kind of dogs, the giant cats, so much stuff to chosse from...

Yeah, getting Darkroot Basin is really a no-braner. I'll probably add a couple of mega bosses on top of that, most likely Gaping Dragon and the Four Kings. No idea why the Asylum Demon is a mega boss though, he's not even that big...

Blighttown would be amazing. You hit the tile and can't go back to your bonfire and have to make it to the next one alive...

The set would have

-the big fat ugly guys with poison weapons
-the feaky skinny guys with masks
-the little guys that shoot toxic darts
-the fire breathing big ugly bugs
-the giant blood misquitos
-Boss would be Queleg (sp?) the Half woman half giant spider boss

And now that I'm thinking of it they should seriously work in having to ring the 2 bells somehow - its such an iconic part of the game.

They could also have that you miss every other turn because of the framerate slowdown

That mechanic would be fantastic. If they add the Dragonslayer Armor (God, I both hope they do and don't, that boss was a nightmare!) I would implement that rule for the tile before him, too. Every time I walked up those stairs, the FPS dropped like mad.

Kingdom Death Fanatic. Dark Eldar: Kabal of the Fragile Breath. Dark Elves: Allegiance to the Black Crown. Also, Masons, Cygnar, and Legion of Everblight. All unnamed.

Holy gak that is an awesome username. Please tell me your army is called Kabal of the Fragile Breath. Morathi's Darkest Sin has some competition here for best handle, I think.

Honestly I'm really hoping for a Painted World expansion with Priscilla, bloated undead, and the Crow people.

Alternatively, Royal Rat Vanguard, Royal Rat Authority, like 6 rats and 2-3 Giant rats would be appreciated as well.

They haven't shown one miniature yet, that hasn't been a digital render. Too many kickstarters have had beautiful renders and then gave backers horrible minis. Sorry but this campaign is totally running on a dream... I'm out.

They've shown 3 pre-production minis. They have not shown production minis because they don't have the money to create them. That's the whole point of crowdfunding; bringing a dream or idea to life.

-They have a video that showcases the Warrior, the Herald, and the Dancer of the Boreal Valley.
-They are making a game based on a third party license; Everything they showcase HAS to go through From Soft, which slows things down considerably.
-The renders they've shown are the same quality as the models for Guild Ball, their other game.

Do you have a link to that video showing the preproduction models? These will be preassembled PVC (just checked).

This looks like it could be the highest non-USD Kickstarter ever! Really impressive, and Guild Ball was handled fantastically well (a bit delayed but well worth it). The resins for Guild Ball are simply incredible, although I don't think that's necessarily an indicator for the production quality of the miniatures here since it will be a different process.

Latest update has a "gameplay demo"... it's 4 minutes of repeating what we already know, and no actual gameplay -_-
They also added 9 new tiles for the expansions... as a £14 paid add-on -_- So to get the full Darkroot expansion, you first need to buy the expansion itself for £35, then the tiles for £14. It's insane. I've been such a huge supporter all along but I'm wavering now. Between the incredible disappointing "gameplay demo" and the paid tiles, this might just be the nail in the coffin for me if they don't show anything more this last week.

It states in the update that the additional tiles are not required for Darkroot Basin/Iron Keep, they are just there if you want them and gives you more options of exploration during gameplay sessions.

Good to know (I guess) the video is not worth watching...
Coudn't they just include the tiles in the expansion? Cardboard is not really that expensive and 15 GBP for 9 tiles is really pushing it.

None of the content is required, you could just as easily remove one of the enemy types, sell it separately and use the same excuse. When you buy an expansion, you want the COMPLETE experience.

The whole campaign they've had people bitching at them to make a tile add on.

Now there's incessent bitching that they should have included them in an existing expansion for free.

SFG try to include fan-demanded items and still end up with people jumping down their fething throat.

The tiles aren't required to use the Keep or Basin material. They are there for those people who threw a hissy fit about the lack of tile art.

I was unclear about whether the different tiles were purely different art (i.e. every non-boss & non-bonfire tile is essentially identical), or whether they were actually different layouts.

I do think the game as a whole has rather missed the point of terrain in Dark Souls - it serves to restrict movement and combat, to hurt and even kill the player. It is as much an enemy as any creature you fight. The preview images make it look like each room is the same evenly-spaced grid (a la Kingdom Death), which is rather dull by comparison.

They've always stated tiles are WIP, though I share your concerns and I do hope variety in shape and node placement is considered for the final product.

The nodes interact differently. They aren't all just free to move onto and through. There will be variance in the environments. They aren't just an open area.

Yeah, the greed is real. They provided these tiles because of backer feedback. Now everyone wants them for free. The only alternative they had to asking for another 15 pounds for them is cutting the double sided part of it and putting them in each expansion, doubling production costs for them and likewise purchasing costs of the expansions for us, as well as shipping for separating them.

They're thinking about the customer, but you can't make those tiles for free. 15 pounds isn't too much in my opinion.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
They've shown renders of:
4 player characters in base game
Ornstein and smough
Gaping dragon
Black dragon kalameet
Dancer
Gargoyle
All grunts in base game, all minibosses in base game

Might have missed a few

They had the old expansions price's set. They can't exactly throw in the new tiles while increasing the prices (Because that would feth up the entire Kickstarter with people now not having paid enough to get the Darkroot add-on), and they can't NOT increase the prices because then they're screwing themselves out of the cardboard.

Also, it should be said that you get two expansions worth of tiles (Iron Keep and Darkroot Garden, one free and one payed) for that 15lbs.

Also Also, the"Gameplay Demo" was exactly what people have been asking for; a demo on how exploring would work. We've known exactly what the combat was like since watching the Boss Fight video.

You can't use videogame models to make minis, they way they're designed (and the frequent used of textures to provide detail) means they're going to have to be redone from the ground up, but obviously based on the video game art

What? In-game renders aren't suitable for cutting tools? Really? They're not the same as pre-production renders of physical product? Even if you can 3-D print it on a one-off basis? Or cold cast the resulting model with a flexible rubber mold? Really?
