I produced a model today that I was going to use for my Vindicare while I awaited enough money to purchase one.

It crossed my mind that since he's the only bloke who looks like a scout in my GK list, he'd probably be acceptable to simply use as my vindicare

I know this is an annoyingly loaded and variable question, but would you let me run this model in a tournament as a vindicare, given that he is clearly different from the rest of the army (of grey space marines)

Its not so much up to us as it is up to the TO.

I, personally, would let you play with him, he looks quite cool. But what the hell does it matter what someone from Ontario (Brisbane) would do. Check with the TO for whatever you are going to, and good luck

Edit: I just looked at your flag and saw you are an aussie. If you are from Brisbane, my comment just became a lot less point-making-y than I had intended it to be. Pretend I said Ontario and the point makes sense again

Is there anyone who would not be okay with this? It is a guy with a huge sniper rifle. Seems perfectly WYSIWYG to me.

I like him, therefore "rule of cool" wins it for me.

It looks like you stuck a lascannon targeter on a boltgun. Not the greatest modeling, but i do like your paint job. I'd let it go.

However, clear it with the TO first. He should let it go, unless he's a hard ass.

Not the greatest of modelling? It's brilliant. (You're also missing the hand grip from a bretonnian man at arms holding a flame torch)

I would definitely let you use for a proxy, the modeling is kinda off, but the paint is good, and he looks like a sniper for sure, however, if you were making it a counts as model for all your games, I would probably say that you should make it look like the SUPER SNIPER RIFLE OF DOOOM that is actually is. As a proxy I think it serves the purpose well.

Yes, he did.

It should be okay to use, but the TO has the final word.

I do not foresee any issues though.

General rules that I follow for proxy/counts as:

The model must have the same base size as the intended model.

When possible, the model should be around the same dimensions as the intended model, if there is a massive difference assume the model is the intended model for cover and what have you.

Beyond those two, its always up to your local TO. If you follow the above rules, you will be fine 95% of the time though.

With those principles, this model is 100% on the money and should be just fine.

Well, the model is crouched, I believe the proper Vindicare is full standing. well, not crouched, but he's not standing straight. his knees are bent..

There are several versions of the vindicare and one was crouching, unfortunately GW no longer sell it.
