Hello,
So while perusing the web, I found a interesting post. This was about building female body armor that fits a female torso. Now from the point of war-gamers we might say so the hell what. However from the point of modelers it may be a different story as often the female torso is well.... rather exposed.... or is covered in so much make kit that it loses its shape due to it being built for males. Now we want out army females to look like females and our little army men to look like men, differences in the build will help. So happy reading http://www.veteransunited.com/network/female-body-armor-is-a-perfect-fit/?utm_source=fb&utm_medium=status&utm_term=vun&utm_content=nine&utm_campaign=blog .

Regards,
Carl

Here's a very good article on female armor from a fantasy perspective from an armorsmith that was brought up in an SoB discussion a month or so ago.

Skintanium armour is the toughest substance known to man-(or indeed woman)-kind.

That means I need to redesign the Scharzenkommando armor. Although I don't think there are actually any pictures of it. Now I need to waste thought time.

As a discussion grows in length, the probability of a comparison to Matt Ward or Gray Knights approaches one.

Hello,
I did see that one, and even posted in it as I am an armorsmith as well. It was a rather fun discussion.

I know that females in my unit have been doing all sorts of female specific sizing and training with our current vests. The problem that the researchers are finding is that the female torso is proportioned (generally speaking) than male's are. So, for most females, they develop sores where the vest has rubbed spots in their skin absolutely raw, because it sits on the wrong portion of the hips, etc. Basically, even the small plates are sized for small men, but by and large, it's females who get that size of plate. Also, because the military has a "one plate to fit them all" thing going on, the size of a female soldier's chest plays a huge role in how the vest fits, and how the protective plate fits.

On a personal level, I think that it shouldn't matter because, even though I am married to another soldier, I hate seeing females on the "front lines". On a professional level, I know that there are many who can do the job that the men do as well, if not better than some, so I think that it's great that they are looking more into this issue, because if you can move, you can stay alive.

I must admit, when it comes to scantily clad warrior women, I find the "metal bikini" 10 times more annoying than the loincloth+chest wraps combination. With the latter, it can be excused that they are trying to stay agile, don't have access to plate armour, are living somewhere extremely hot, or believe that armour is for wimps etc...Whereas the metal bikini look gives across the idea that these people seriously think that a steel set of bra and panties are going to give any protection at all! And on top of that, the advantages of the cloth and wraps (agility, comfort etc) are COMPLETELY NEGATED. Likewise, a female character who is well armoured with the exception of her cleavage (basically, a great big "STAB ME IN THE HEART!" sign) really gets my goat.
