I'm looking for reading material on the Officio Assassinorum. Any rulebooks, codexes and novels with substantial information on them.

There's the old Codex Assassins from 3rd edition. DH: Ascension also has some info on Imperial Assassins.

We can tell you stories, too. Things like walking Apocalypse Now references in the Callidus temple; the fact that three things matter in marksmanship: location, location, location; that despair is an illusion of the mind and pain is an illusion of the senses; and so on.

The Officio is one of the more under-represented things in the franchise despite how awesome a concept they are. Really, your best bets are the 2 Codex Assassins and Nemesis by James Swallow. Outside of that, you won't see much Officio love.

I agree. You'd have thought that Games Workshop would have been more business-minded and ought to be bigging up the Officio Assassinorum considering that they're the 40k organisation dealing with clandestine operations, and a certain video game that's coming out next month.

I'm going to take a guess and say you're referring to Assassin's Creed 3.

I was actually referring to Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.

OT: There's not much info I'm afraid, the 3rd ed Codex Assassins is a good reference, and can now be found for cheap on ebay, I got mine for £3.00
There's a few excerpts on the use of assassins in some of the FW books, a Vindicare in Vraks 1, and an Eversor in Taros I believe, been a while since I've read them...
Also, Nemesis as mentioned is quite good. It's Heresy era, but it's a cool insight into how the Offico works, especially the little known clades like Vanus and Veneum.

The 2E Codex Imperialis also has some fluff on them, if only a single page.
Then, the various rulebooks from all addition. In my experience, each of them mentioned assassins somewhere?
Also, perhaps the Witch Hunters Codex? Not sure how much information this one has, though.
Oh, and maybe GW's Inquisitor RPG. You can get the PDFs from their website here - just search for the keyword "assassin":

In general, I would also advise to be aware of conflicting sources. In addition to some books simply being outdated, many stuff is written as that individual author's own interpretation of the setting, and there is very little collaboration between the various sources outside the persons who worked on the product at hand.
An example that springs to mind right away would be the Dark Heresy RPG telling you that Imperial Assassins are attached permanently to an Inquisitor, when that is not how it was described in GW's books (likely a concession to P&P players to facilitate the inclusion of such characters into the group) and, in fact, sources such as Codex Apocalypse stressed the Assassins' independence as a sort of asset that may or may not cooperate with an Inquisitor on case-by-case basis only.
