Recently got a load of the wood buildings from Battleflag (they are awesome by the way) to replace my ropey papercraft ones and I put together the gallows as test piece, being that it is the least complicated. The set comes with a piece of thread designed to be wrapped into a teen, tiny noose. Problem is my fat, fumble fingers can't do it - the thread just doesn't wrap/loop right without twisting and it is basically too fiddly to do a 'proper' noose following guides on the net. Anyone got any suggestions for doing it? Is there a guide to making miniature 28mm nooses? Or is there an easy way to 'fake' it - I have had a go at wrapping the thread round a cocktail stick which looks promising but would appreciate a how to if there is one out there.

Loop the thread around a pencil so that you have two ends: a long one and a short one about 4cm or 2" long. It might help to put some blue tack on the pencil to grip the thread in place.
Put a blob of superglue on the long end, just before it meets the pencil. Now tightly wrap the short end around the long end going through the superglue until you've got a nice neck on your noose. Hold it tight until the superglue sets, then clip away the excess on the short end.
You're done.

I've been having similar problems.. I have the GameCraft gallows. I tried just doing it with greenstuff and that was a disaster. I got some sewing thread from Walmart and spent hours trying to get a good looking noose, but I decided 1 piece of thread just isn't thick enough. So I was going to try the 2 pencil idea, but wrapping a few strands together and then twisting like I'm making rope out of thread. Didn't get a chance to do it yet though. Was thinking once I get them twisted together and it looks thick enough I'll use some watered down white glue and paint it on to strengthen it. I think if you had the rope part thicker than your mini's necks it would still be ok, just to get the detail and point across.

Why not use thin wire, a thin coat of green stuff will rough it up if too smooth?

I'd just dip a yo-yo string in some brown ink or wash, then coat it with PVA when it dries.
