I play tested this army the other day, and I have to say I was very pleased on how well it did. The command squads took a beating up front but held their own once put into decent cover or get them selves into assault. My first list used sword brethren squads, but I found the command squads are cheaper and can last a lot longer with FNP due to the Apothecary. With three scoring units and maybe a possible 4th one with the Warlord trait, I don't think I should have a problem with claiming an objective. Anyways your tips or ideas are more than welcome!

Anything? Looking for some unit ideas or tips to really make this list compete.

I'm not sure who you played but this does not seem very competitive to me.

You're spending a lot of points on command squads that can be shredded very easily with any decent dedicated CC units, you can't assault after you infiltrate unless you go second, which means you gotta sit a whole turn and get shot at before you can assault (by then a smart player will have moved out of assault range, or assaulted you to deny your Rage USR).

You're mixing heavy/rapid-fire weapons with CC weapons in your blobs when they'd be better off specializing in one aspect (which the BTs can do very well). Why not have one shooty blob and one assaulty blob?

The rest of the army looks good.

I would look into dropping one of the command squads and getting some tank-hunting dual CML termies with a ADL and quad-gun, they'll tear through just about any flier/vehicle.

I also never leave home without my adamantine mantle, it has protected my HQ countless times.

Hope this helps, have fun!

i have played with a templar list a few times using 2 full standard troops choice bolters on marines and pistols and CCW on neophytes, these are amazing at sitting on objectives.

my personal opinion on black templars is that they need some back bone and a staple that you have as your big hitter, for me its a land raider crusader carrying 10 sword brethren and a marshall, i also make use of dreadnoughts as well and have played a few games where i have walked through orks, nyds and eldar alike so many attacks and power armour saves give them a good advantage against hordes.

still they are out dated and are in much need of a revamp but so far i havnt lost a match yet with them.

flyers are still a problem but once you get rid of the ground forces you essentially win the game anyway so you can afford to ignore them if you have other proirities
