Do you think people would be apposed to me using lizerdmen with space marine bits and saying they work as them in battles regular and tournament?
want to see how most people feel about it before trying don't want to end up with a allied detachment i cant use.
after all i think its more likely that aliens would help the tau then space marines fluff wise.

Yeah i cant see you getting away with Lizardmarines at Tournys.

If you reversed it and when Marines with an Aztec theme. Then use Lizardmen weapons as marine ccw and maybe the odd headswap. That might work.

I'd say it depends on how you go about it tbh. If, you just put SM shoulders & weapons then, no. If you put some genuine work into converting them to represent the heavier armor & they're obviously at a glance PA equipped you're good with most players I'd say. Regardless, anytime there is the potential for confusion, explain it to your opponent & make sure all conversions are consistent. As long as I know what I'm looking at I'm good.

It is hard to judge without pics, but you would need to seriously put some effort into the conversions to get away with it.

I tend to agree with the above posts. If you're intending on playing in tournaments, then you'll have to put the work in. As long as people can see that you've made a decent effort they should be fine. And if anyone is confused, take the time to explain what units are represented etc. I have no problem playing against 'different' armies (in fact, it's often awesome) - as long as the person playing that army explains anything that's unclear or confusing (which they often do).

If still in doubt, work up a test mini and post it on here for feedback!

I wouldn't mind playing this army.
So go for it.

Hey guys.. I wanted to start a new topic, but I think proposing a question relating the OP would just as good.

Just as the OP said, I would like to assemble marine/imperial guard scaled models, that have DRAGON heads/masks.

I had a look through the fantasy lizardmen lines, but the heads are all too "lizardy", not dragon enough.

Would anyone be kind enough to help me find some "dragon heads/maks?".

Many thanks in advance!

More inspiration for your "counts as" modeling. As long as it's instantly identifiable you shouldn't have any issues.
