I never noticed this before, but people mix their GS differently. I like to roll my two parts into two snakes then twist the snakes together and repeat until mixed, but my buddy takes the two parts and mixes it between his thumb and two fingers, almost like he's making the "money" gesture. So it got me thinking about how and why people mix their GS the way they do. So how do you mix you GS and why?

Roll them together into a sausage, then cut it into pieces and mash them together until it's a uniform colour

Squish, roll, squish, roll, squish, roll (all done between thumb and fingers - whilst wearing gloves) until it's that uniform colour you want.

I'm generally only working with a bit smaller than your little fingertip at a time, though.

Pretty much this minus the gloves. I also put the putty in the palm of my hand roll it into a ball with my other. Doesn't really help with the mixing but its fun and somewhat cathartic.

Don't use green stuff, would rather use grey stuff. But when I do mix grey stuff I generally roll it in between my to palms.

I alternate between "stretch, fold, squish" and "roll, fold, twist (sounds like the OP's method)," usually doing a few cycles of each before switching. The combination appears, at least, to speed things up by redistributing layers in multiple planes. Granted, I tend to work with very small amounts at a time, so the difference I'm noticing is small enough to be potentially attributable to chance or confirmation bias.

I start by squishing and folding., then move on to rolling, squashing and more folding until my nerves are calm enough to start sculpting.

I place a blob of the yellow stuff on the table and a bloob of the blue stuff on my forehead.

Then I bash the two together until I get a nice homogenous mixture.

Or I fold it over on itself over and over with my fingers until it's good to go.

I wear gloves so that it doesn't stick to my skin and I don't leave fingerprints in the GS.

Although it's partly an ingrained habit after dealing with various dangerous and otherwise chemical compounds over the years - PPE becomes second nature and you just don't think about it - the gloves just go on as a matter of course.
