Any suggestions on where to find a good alternative to the standard space marine bike? I'm not at all opposed to conversion work, I'm just looking for a good jumping-off point.
The ultimate goal is to turn it into a librarian on a bike that will stand ou from the other bike that I plan to use.

Not too hard to de-chaos-ise the Chaos marine bike.
But for an important character like a Librarian, a jetbike is certainly tempting - as well as Chapterhouse, quite a few other manufacturers make them, in a variety of styles.

I hadn't seen the jetbike before.... I kind of like that as a possibility.
As far as other manufacturers, I'm in the process of sorting through them, but man there are a ton of sites to pour through.

If you don't fancy buying 3rd party kits, plastic is still the easiest material to kitbash with.
I'm currently cutting off the front section of a chaos bike and attaching it to a loyalist bike for my captain. I'm also going to attach a spare aquila from the storm-talon kit, and maybe switch out the standard boltguns for storm bolters or heavy bolters. Add in some Ravenwing sprue components and I think it will make the standard model look a lot more unique and interesting.
I'm also cutting off a few marine's legs and widening the stance using pinning and greenstuff. That way I can have the model portray a resting look. You'll be amazed at how much more interesting the bikes look just tilted to either side by a few degrees!

If you're tempted to go the jetbike route, I'd like to point you toward the new Forgeworld marine jetbike... I'm so close to just splurging on a squadron of them purely for their awesome looks.

GW kits are more than capable of providing an awesome base for non-standard bikes.
I trawled e-bay for the constituent parts, so they probably came out cheaper than buying them normally

Found this awhile ago, I haven't done one yet, but its a cool design, and would work for a Librarian.
