Looking for a miniature that would fit 40k scale.

What bike are you talking about? I didn't watch the video because I don't have Flash installed on this computer.

Fixed, maybe. I've never seen that bike before, and it's awesome.

But... how do you turn? Tracked vehicles turn by pausing a track/putting less power to one track over another. With a single track that's not possible.

Leaning the bike won't do a thing - motorcycles lean when turning because the contact patch changes size

On topic - I don't even know the manufacturer to try and find a mini of it, but I don't think it'd be that hard to build/cast yourself.

use a single track (or part of one) from an IG tank kit. they are narrow enough that a Marine biker model coudl probably still straddle it.

I want to make that, though Rigeld2's comment is correct. Then again, most of warhammer's stuff isn't mechanically feasible in real life anyway, so why not?

Retro rockets or suspensor tech, but who cares how it works, that is an awesome find

I have seen a couple larger scale models of these types of bikes - though I don't recall anything in miniatures sizes. You should be able to knock out this version pretty easily from scratch or use a small donor for getting the parts from (a 1:76 WWI tank for example should be close to the right size...and give you parts enough to work with).

Regarding the steering control, this one looks like it uses the shifting bogies method. The wheels on the bottom of the track were able to move from side to side a bit which allowed the track to deform from a shape like "|" to ")" or "(" for turning. During the late 1920s and 1930s it was a popular theory which was being considered and there were dozens of different versions from lots of companies.

The other version sort of was an oblong track shape that functioned as an odd shaped wheel as opposed to a traditional track. This allowed for steering which would in theory work like a unicycle, though in practice it didn't work too well at all.

More recently a couple of companies have looked back into the design, in particular Hyanide:

There is another one which was in limited production in the late 1990s which was intended as a snowmobile.

I can easly see this as a Ork conversion. As far as the stearing Sean is correct, but then if an Ork is driving it, it really doesn't matter any way, cuz it'll turn because it can....that's just Ork logic.
