how about a giant wall of chitin, or those wierd spires with the teeth things but tiny versions, or a wall of digestive lines growing from the ground as if you've already been eating the planet for weeks. could be pretty interesting to see how it turns out if you do make it.

A real easy way to do it would be to use pva glue and drip super glue on it. Ill see if I can find the youtube vid of a guy from the Overlords podcast making nid bases. Would be super cheap and look nidtastic.
I found it.

Every Dakkanaught gets a 4+ Pinch of Salt save.
When you suffer a Falling Sky hit, roll a D6 - on a 4+ the hit is ignored as per the Pinch of Salt save. On a 1-3 panic insues - you automatically fail common sense tests for the next 2 weeks and get +7 to your negativity stat. -Praxiss

i like his use of plastic container cups for the base of his chitin. tho...personally i would not cut them in that diamond kinda pattern... but im stealing the idea for the bases and the armor plating. gonna do some kinda capilary tower esque thing holding the plates to the ground

What about some sort of wierd-pulsating-umbilical-cord-type-thing, where the ends look like they are bursting in/out of the ground, so it looks like some sort of organic nutrient transport pipe?
And that is why you hear people yelling FOR THE EMPEROR rather than FOR LOGICAL AND QUANTIFIABLE BASED DECISIONS FOR THE BETTERMENT OF THE MAJORITY!

Might take some doing to track them down depending on where you are located - but a friend who has a Tyranid based army used barnacles as the base.
The shells of the barnacle have a lot of interesting organic shapes, and after the meat has been removed from them (he used a fire ant nest to do that bit) they are as stable as a seashell.
Around here, he was able to get them from free at a local dry dock that did hull repairs - though you see them available on eBay as well.

Or some organic stuff - anything from tree trunks to wooden walls to dead creatures, being enthusastically gobbled by rippers? It can look half-eaten, so easily made to fit normal Aegis dimensions.

I was thinking about making my own, then saw this one.
Ordered it, and very happy. Decent quality, and looks great.
Or use it for inspiration!
