Subject: Pig Iron Near Future 28mm infantry models
Taking a break from their normal range, Pig Iron is going near future soon
From their blog (not on their webstore yet)
New Near Future range - first views
This weekend at Warfare sees the launch of the first packs of our 28mm Near Future range. These will be available from the Tablescape stand along with our other products.
The first release is a selection of sprues that enable you to build squads of well equipped troops complete with assault weapons, saw's and anti-tank missiles. They have been designed as next generation infantry that could be used to represent any nations armed security forces.
The sprues are split into separate torsos, legs and heads that give you endless combinations of poses. As usual the sprues have been modelled into scenic rubble which can be used to decorate your bases and are all available separately. They have been designed to work with our Kolony sprues and fit nicely with 'heroic scaled' plastic figures which will please all the converters out there.
They will be available to buy on our website next week and keep visiting our blog for painted examples over the coming week to two.
The sprues are £4.50 + postage
Cheers

Those heads are excellent. I expect to see them on a lot of Cadians in the near future! Those minis are also fantastic, with the sole exception of the missile launcher. It looks so dinky next to the chunky figures with their chunky guns.

Love the legs and the heads. I would seriously consider those for my next conversion idea that I've got in mind. Too bad the legs aren't seperate, they look great.
At least I'll be able to pick up the heads.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Hate the guns though, they look bizarre. ALthough to be fair I've never liked their weapons.

Terrible-looking guns, not even close to realistic, but the rest of the models are good. Unfortunately, the guns seem to be sculpted on. On the plus side, these look to be a good source for custom IG heads.

OK, dumb question. Are these actually new? I could have sworn I read about these a few months ago - I remember thinking the rubble-sprues were a cool idea. Was that just a preview and they are finally released, or am I imagining things?
Very nice IG alternatives.

As usual, Pig Iron's heads are awesome. The minis themselves are good, definitely a good choice. The guns are okay I think. Nothing mind-blowing, but usable. That missile launcher is horrible though, definitely the weakest part of this line so far.
I think the issue with the guns is that they seem to have just plunked on the same aethestic that they use for their Kolony stuff. They don't match with the look of the models, which are more in line with current uniforms. Perhaps a simplified version of the Israeli Tavor would have looked better?

Wait, are these the "official" Tomorrow's War figures that they were said to be working on or are those going to be a different line?

I'm not sure - I know loads of the Pig Iron minis were featured in the Tomorrows War rulebook, so perhaps Pig Iron are making the miniatures for that purpose?
Some of the poses seem a bit off and I wish I could swap the guns, but the heads seem amazing as I've come to expect from Pig Iron.
